This beautiful and well maintained 3 bed cottage to rent in Sidmouth, Devon is set in a tranquil location yet just 3 minutes walk to the sea front.

Overview

Heydons House is a lovingly maintained, high quality cottage to rent in an enviable location in the heart of Sidmouth.

The beauty of Heydons House is that it is set in a peaceful area yet within a 5 minute level walk of the sea front and town centre. It is tucked away at the end of a quiet no-through road, yet everything you could possibly need is within walking distance. Importantly it offers its own parking space by way of an integral garage.

Being furnished to a very high standard throughout, the accommodation is spacious and versatile. There are 3 main bedrooms but also a 4th room off the master bedroom, that is in essence a dressing room but has a single bed (with further pull out) so can be used as a 4th single or twin bedroom.

The layout of the cottage will also suit couples who just like a little more space and quality.

A real feature of the cottage is the large , country style kitchen. The central focus of which is an impressive Aga but there is also a traditional oven and hob.

From the kitchen, patio doors lead to a lovely sunny courtyard where you can stretch out in private or dine al fresco. There is even room for the kids to play in complete safety.

The cottage offers the best of both worlds. The energetic will love the pretty and romantic walks that Sidmouth and East Devon provide. Those just wanting to relax, unwide and take in the sea air can do so without the need of a car. By contrast if you want to get out and about, Sidmouth is very well located for everything Devon has to offer.

This is a wonderful and unique Sidmouth cottage to rent in Sidmouth that is adaptable to suit all needs and requirements.

We accept stays of 3 nights or more - please enquire further for prices.

Sidmouth
Beautiful gardens and leisurely walks, Regency history, quaint cottages, clean beaches and friendly shops…. Sidmouth has it all!!

This lovely seaside town nestles beneath majestic red cliffs and the green hills of the glorious Sid Valley.

Sidmouth has everything you could possible needs - a picturesque beach, a lovely mile long esplanade, great shops, fine restaurants, fantastic walks and much more!

The beach is an ideal place in which to relax on a deckchair. The more energetic can always climb the 500 feet high Peak Hill to enjoy the magnificent panorama Sidmouth and the coast far below. In the other direction is the equally commanding Salcombe Hill whilst inland are the green hills of the pretty Sid Valley. Alternatively there is always a gentler stroll around town, through the park and gardens and along the seafront. This is linked by a walkway to the western beach at Jacob’s Ladder.

Sidmouth’s park, The Byes, is a delightful riverside walk and quiet sanctuary. There are popular guided walks from the Heritage Centre taking in the main landmarks of the town. A ford still takes traffic across the River Sid.

As well as The Byes, there are many interesting walks and drives around Sidmouth. The nearby villages of Beer and Branscombe are both worth visiting en route to Seaton, the next sizeable resort.

Families with children will enjoy the location. If you can get them off the beach, the kids will love a visit to Crealey Park, one of Devons largest theme parks or the more relaxed Bicton Gardens with its park and train ride. "Pecorama" at Beer is also a lovely date out.

We had a lovely week at Heydon's House in April 2022. The cottage is situated in a quiet lane, but minutes from the seafront, shops and restaurants. The cottage is very quaint and comfortable, full of character. Sidmouth is like stepping back in time, very unspoilt and sleepy. Lots of nice restaurants and cafes nearby.

We spent a lovely weekend at Heydon’s House whilst carrying out work on our holiday cottage in Sidmouth. The owner, Jon, and the housekeeper, Laura, were both super helpful. The house was so snug & comfortable during a very wet & wild weekend in Sidmouth. We loved the warmth of the Aga and the house is so full of character. It is perfectly located in the centre of Sidmouth and we joked that everything is 3 minutes walk away! Our particular needs were well catered for....thank you for making us welcome

We had a fantastic holiday. Location is close enough to walk into town but also quiet in the evening. Parking is an issue. We used the large long stay by the harbour hotel which was £25 for the week or 6 for the day but is handy for the beach.

Thank you for the lovely review. I am glad you had a fantastic time at the cottage. We have just changed the garage door to an "up and over" type so that actually gives more room to manoeuvre the car in. Previously I have no problem parking my family car in there (although it did take 2 or 3 turns) and it is now even easier. Alongside that we have the use of parking space just 50 metres away that is available from 6pm to 8am weekdays and all weekend. Lastly, when we've had 2 cars, I have never had an issue parking in one of the side streets for free. Yes you might be a couple of minutes walk away but it doesn't cost anything.

Thank you again for the review and hope to welcome you back again in the future.

A great house with all the facilities that you could need and in hidden location in the centre of Sidmouth. Stuart Owens - Oct 2013.

Heydons House has a wonderful location in the heart of Sidmouth, and just minutes from the beach. The cottage is very comfortable and clean. Zoe Mlcoch - 9th to 6th Oct 2013

Heydons house is located in a gorgeous quiet lane, close walking distance to shops and foreshore. A very comfortable property ensuring a wonderful break. Sidmouth is a beautiful town with lots of charm & character, a get spot to explore the Jurassic Coast along with the surrounding countryside. A gem in Devon.

We have just returned from Heydon’s House in Sidmouth. What a fabulous school half term week we had. The weather was fairly kind and we even ventured on to the Seaton Tram. The cottage is located perfect for the sea front and town centre yet is private and quite. It was immaculate, clean and very warm, it was also much bigger than we expected. We were very pleased with the value for money and would strongly recommend it. Sidmouth is so un-commercialised, has no arcades or kiss-me-quick hats and retains its Victorian splendour, such a nice place. Many thanks for a great time.

We had a lovely stay at Heydons House. The cottage is very warm and cosy thanks to the aga in the kitchen. Its in a perfect location with Sidmouth high street and the sea front just a short stroll away. We had a lovely holiday and have already booked it again for next year!

Heydon House is very well placed for all of Sidmouths amenities, of which there are many. It is a lovely warm cottage (due to the Aga in the kitchen), with a pleasant patio garden ideal for al fresco dining, Well worth a return visit.

Location counts for a great deal , and this is exactly what this cottage offers. Within no time at all, one has access to Bowling Greens, Public Gardens, the local market and shops, the Parish Church and the seafront. The cottage itself provides comfort and homeliness, so making for a really pleasing holiday

We found this cottage to be in an excellent location, a few minutes walk from the town centre and very near to the beach. Yet so quite and peaceful. It had everything that one would need to make your stay welcoming, even a garage that we could store our grandchildrens bikes in. It was clean well presented and equipped. We are now looking forward to returning next year, perhaps for an even longer period.

A lovely, deceptively spacious cottage a couple of minutes walk from the esplanade and Sidmouths bustling shopping centre. Although well located the cottage is in a quiet area and the outside patio area is a great suntrap for breakfast. The cottage has a convenient garage, is simply but well furnished, spotlessly clean and has everything needed for a self catering holiday. It provides excellent accommodation and great value for money. Would I book it again? Definitely.
