River View - Luxury Holiday Home At Westcliffe House, Rothbury

This was the best self-catering property we have stayed in. Everything was first class. The kitchen had everything you could want, plenty of cooking utensils, lots of cups, glasses, cutlery. We were blessed with good weather and sat outside having our breakfast on several days. Overall it was just perfect and we will hopefully return in the future. Thank you/

Just had a week's stay at river cottage and could have stayed much longer. The property is spacious and comfortable. No attention to detail has been spared. The lounge and bedrooms are cozy and warm, beds are comfortable, bathrooms clean and equipped with hand soap and hand softener. The kitchen is fantastically well equipped with high end appliances and lots of little extras. I really appreciated not having to buy dish soap, condiments and tea and coffee. The welcome package was also much appreciated. River View is ideally situated for visiting a multitude of attractions with the added attraction of a quiet rural retreat. Peter (the owner) was very helpful. Totally in love with this property and can't wait to visit again with the family.

A lovely spacious house for up to 6 people, great location just outside Rothbury with great views of the river valley . Superb, large and well appointed kitchen with utility room , comfortable lounge and bedrooms . Large gardens and good local walks

Had an amazing stay at Riverview. The location is beautiful and the view from the cottage is amazing. Lovely walks from the doorstep. Will definitely book again.

This was our second visit to River View (we stayed here in 2021, and then in Coquet View in 2022) – this time we booked for 2 weeks as we like Westcliffe House so much, and we definitely want to return!
The property itself was spotlessly clean, with excellent provision of high quality kitchen equipment/appliances etc, extremely spacious with very comfortable beds and sofas. There are so many little touches to make the visitor feel at home, including a generous ‘welcome basket’, Smart TV, books and games for rainy days and double quantities of china/cutlery/glasses so that there’s no need to wait for the dishwasher to finish before the next meal is required.

Andrew, the property manager, is extremely helpful, and we were very impressed by the speed with which he organised a replacement dishwasher to be delivered and fitted when the existing one proved to be faulty.

The outstanding views from the property plus the well-maintained garden make this a wonderful place just to sit and relax but there is so much to do in the area – local walks from the house up the hill behind or across the valley on the Simonsides/National Trust houses, Hadrian’s Wall, castles and beaches within 45 minutes’ drive (a little longer to Holy Island but doable in a day if the tide is right)/the town of Rothbury itself. Lots of independent retailers selling toys, shoes, outdoor wear, craft wools, gifts… as well quality butchers, bakers, deli, Co-op.. and a good range of places to eat.

We had a superb holiday here and highly recommend it.
