A private, luxury woodland cabin set in 2 acres of private gardens and woodland, with outstanding south facing views over the Northumberland National Park Simonside Hills and River Coquet valley.

Overview

The Woodland Cabin has been built to take advantage of it’s outstanding location overlooking the Northumberland hills and river valley.

Although superficially resembling a typical Shepherds hut, the larger cabin features windows with 180° south facing views over the hills and valley. It is divided into three sections; a kitchen/dining area, a bedroom with double bed and a connected shower/wc room.

The cabin has hot and cold water and a fully equipped kitchen. With double glazing throughout, and excellent insulation the cabin is warm and comfortable; with thermostatically controlled heating its is available all year round.

From within the Cabin you should see a wide variety of wildlife; a wide range of woodland and garden birds to buzzards and kestrels; rabbits; and maybe squirrels and deer.

The bedroom comprises a double bed, fireplace (flame effect electric heating), TV and access to the en suite shower room & toilet. The TV has terrestrial digital channels and Roku (providing guest mode access to Netflix, iPlayer etc).

The kitchen/dining area has a well equipped kitchen with gas hob, combi microwave oven and grill, full sized under-counter fridge.

The shower is full sized with ample hot water for showering. The toilet is an eco-friendly waterless and odourless toilet.

Outside is a terraced area overlooking the views, with seating for outside dining. Below the cabin is a unique sunken rock garden, incorporating a circular seating area sheltered from the wind, but capturing the the heat of the sun, whilst offering outstanding views over the woods and hills.

Set in 2 acres of gardens and grounds, cabin occupies its own private 1/4 acre space. Guests in Pondicherry House Apartment also have their own private courtyard and garden area; with the remaining 2 acres gardens and grounds shared between guests. The entire outdoor space is free to explore. The gardens contain a mix of planting, crevice garden, patio area, willow structures and three wildlife ponds; all terraced to overlook the valley & hills. Around and below the cabin are a mix of meadow areas & young coppice woodland, with meandering paths.

Overlooking the woodland is an artists’ studio shed, with 180 degree views over the Coquet Valley, river and hills. An old type writer and some art materials are provided, as is plenty of inspiration for painters, sketchers and creative writers.

Ample private parking space is available.

Please note, whilst there are no steps or stairs, (apart from the two steps up into the cabin), the cabin is situated approximately 50m from the parking area down a graveled path leading to the woods. The path is reasonably steep, and may not be idea access for all visitors; the accompanying pictures show the path. Please feel free to ask prior to booking if you are unsure.

Beautiful location and super hosts. The cabin has everything it can for the size. Comfy bed and wildlife on the doorstep. It is as small as it looks and says, so you need to be out as much as possible! We had a lovely week, thank you.
