Great place for a hen weekend. Plenty room, great facilities, helpful and welcoming host. Would recommend
Really lovely weekend with a big group of friends. Couldn't have asked for a better location and property. Chris was a superb host, looked after us from the very beginning. Would definitely recommend.
I struggled to find a suitable house for my extended family to stay in harmoniously (11 of us). This property was perfect for us, spacious, private and came with a hot tub! We met up in Scotland for a private homage to our mother who has passed away a year earlier, she was born in the area and we wanted to bring her ashes back to Scotland. Chris the host was so incredibly supportive and immediately understood our needs as a family, he went out of his way to organise a private scattering on the beautiful Loch Lomond. We were greeted with smiles and a warm welcome (and amazing brownies) and then left in privacy with everything we needed to enjoy time together. The attention to detail in even the pre visit pack helped us make the most of our weekend with whisky tasting, boat tours and restaurants. Thank you for a great stay - this house does what it says it will, no surprises other than way above average customer service from the hosts! Enjoy!
I genuinely could not write a more glowing review for this host if I tried. Booking with Chris will be one of the best decisions you make this year. He is a very friendly, welcoming and informative host who has went above and beyond to ensure we had the most incredible stay with him. I would recommend him and this property 10/10 365 days a year. All I ask is that you remember to take enough pictures so you remember how great of a time you had!!
A really super house in a top location, a mega weekend to see off our stag! Chris our host is a legend and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and pleasant. Hot tub was ace and house was spacious and very clean and tidy. Even chocolate brownies when we arrived. Super stuff all round, can't recommend highly enough for large groups wishing to explore the Glasgow area!
We had an amazing stay. The house was perfect for our family; lots of space both inside and out. The hot tub was a fantastic bonus. It was very clean and had a lovely view. The town Milngavie is just a 5-minute walk from the house with lots of shops and restaurants to choose from. We also spent some time on the hiking trails around, which were all incredible. Chris and Frances were incredible hosts! We would love to return.
We rented Pleasant Hill for 5 days to provide accommodation as well as a base to host wider friends and family for pre-wedding celebrations and festivities. Milngavie was well located relative to the main wedding venue. But is a beautiful town and PHS is in a fabulous location for any cause. The website gives a great indication of what we might have expected. But the place just blew those expectations to bits. The open kitchen, dining, reception room is a magnificent space for accommodating large groups, and also hosting larger parties - between house and garden we easily hosted 60-ish for one event. The bedrooms are very comfortable. What little sleep we had between functions and celebrations was very restful. Though we were "only" 13 plus 2 children, PHS would easily accommodate 20, and Chris is very helpful with options on layouts. What made our stay particularly amazing though were the hosts. Chris was helpful throughout. Once our booking was made and the reason known he was pro-active all the way, with suggestions and recommendations for catering, things to do, local transport, private coach hire, musicians, entertainers, etc, etc, etc. We've rented property of all sizes, every grade, and all over the world - Chris and Frances stand out in a world of their own as hosts. Thanks for a fantastic stay. Hopefully we will have a cause to return - or we'll just make one up 🥰
Chris was a wonderful and relaxed host with a large property in a quiet location. Great for large groups
Stayed in the venue with 12 friends, and every single person came up saying how great they found the accommodation. It was perfectly placed to get to from Glasgow and us to head to other locations. It was a great space inside for us to enjoy ourselves and the bedrooms felt spacious considering there were so many of us. The outside area was great for playing a few games and relaxing as well. Chris himself could not have been a better host, he was incredibly helpful leading up to our stay responding to messages and giving recommendations and support. He was flexible with some of our changing plans and even had Brownies waiting for us. Could not recommend Chris and the venue anymore if you are looking for a great space and good host.
We had an amazing weekend at Pleasant Hill! Chris was a wonderful host. friendly and quick to respond with the endless question we fired his way. We had 14 guys on a stag do and it was the perfect space for it. a GREAT garden that extends into even more garden if you need it, perfect for the inflatable games we had hired in. The hot tub was a great touch for relaxing in with lovely outdoor lights above. And to top it all off there was a lovely home baked batch of delicious chocolate brownies at check in. what more could you ask for! HIGHLY recommend this spot. (oh and loads of great restaurants and shops near by etc) cheers! x
We came in tired and grumpy from London experiences and our host met us at the train station to help with our luggage. I’m 76 and taking 13 people on a UK tour. Mr Campbell made it all better! We were greeted with homemade brownies, hot tub, lots of backyard and grass to play on and even used the trampoline next door (the kids did, not me). The shower was good, beds comfortable and atmosphere kitchen bright. Thank you Campbell family!
Excellent!
We had a great trip over Hogmanay at Pleasant Hill. We especially enjoyed the Hot Tub during the frosty days! Chris was a great host, very helpful while we were there. Great access to Glasgow as well as local walks and Lochs.
I stayed here with a large family group for my sons wedding, it was simply amazing - beautiful rooms, with every amenity you could wish for. It enhanced our celebrations - we had 15 people staying but with 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, there were no issues with space. Furnishings were spotlessly clean, beds were comfortable, warm and cosy. We enjoyed the hot tub on one of our nights and again it was spotlessly clean and ideal for our needs. We were able to have all of us sat around the table for dinner each night, and there were more than enough plates, dishes, glasses etc for all of us. Chris and Frances are lovely hosts, they replied to a small issue within minutes, and we certainly all enjoyed the home-made mince pies left for us. I can not rate this accommodation highly enough - it was everything we needed and more. Only 2 minutes from the village, with parking available, and a lovely garden - I will definitely stay there again.
Pleasant Hill has everything you need to know in its name. We had a wonderful stay in the property, and the owners were very accommodating, no request was too big or too small. There was ample room for us all to during our weeks stay and we had eight adults and four kids plus visitors at times. The house was even decorated for Christmas with a real tree in the living room for Santa to leave his presents under, not to mention the home cooked brownies and the wonderful mince pies that were dropped by too. It was a big home with a big heart and only a few minutes’ walk from the heart of downtown Milngavie. Mind you, there was also the spacious private garden with a hot tub which was well used...despite the snow! Our family gathering loved the house and it made for a memorable staycation, especially for those of us who made the 6000-mile round trip from the USA. We would recommend staying here to all that are looking at this property and will consider coming back to stay in the future. Thank you again to Chris and Frances who went out of their way to make it a home away from home for us.
Located in Milngavie, this house is just amazing. Just come back from a long weekend with 10 mates for my Stag. Great links to Glasgow city centre with frequent trains, the town itself quirky and had plenty to offer too. The host - Chris - Legend - could not be more accommodating, arranged a shop to be delivered before our arrival so we could travel lighter and have everything there on arrival. He took the delivery and put everything away so the beer was chilled on entry. He was always on hand for recommendations and genuinely a top top guy. The house is perfect - you are never on top of each other so much space - the garden is great and so well kept. Huge communal area which is what drew my attention to the house so would call all be together once ready. Honestly couldn't recommend this place enough. If you're a large group, friends or family this is the place for you. Thanks again Chris - you helped make this weekend what it was. Will definitely be back with the wife!
We rented Pleasant Hill in Milngavie for Christmas 2020. Due to Covid 19 restrictions we arrived in Scotland early so we could quarantine. Pleasant hill was perfect for this. It was very spacious inside and with a large garden. We had three people working online with no issues at all. When we arrived Chris and Francis provided lunch food for us as our groceries were not being delivered until later in the day. They also decorated the house for Christmas and included a real Christmas tree, and baked us lovely mincemeat pies and brownies. During our stay Chris was available to answer any questions and to help with anything we needed. We loved the location of the house as it is close to local shops, the city of Glasgow and to the Campsies. We definitely recommend booking this property. We plan on staying here again!
Very well equipped for private family gatherings and celebrations. Owner, Chris, was particularly helpful before our wee family wedding based here - making preparations run smoothly and able to supply all sorts of things I thought I would have to bring with me. The gardens are beautiful and even gave us a lovely space for photos when the winter weather broke out in sunshine for an hour!
We rented the property at Pleasant Hill for one week this Christmas past, in part to prepare and host an extended family meal for over thirty people. I am very pleased to report that this ambitious endeavor went without a hitch and was a great success! The property is located in Millingavie and is an ideal base to explore the west of Scotland, with Glasgow being a mere twenty minutes away by train (the station is a five minute walk from the house), and in the other direction the beauty of the Scottish Highlands awaits. Loch Lomond with it’s “Bonnie Banks” is within a twenty minute drive from the house, but for the more energetic, one of the most beautiful hikes in the world, The West Highland Way, starts just yards from the property (it is ninety miles long however, so leave yourself enough time!) The town itself has many amenities including multiple supermarkets, restaurants, hotels and bars, and two recreation centers (gym’s) one municipal and one private, both open to the public. Milingavie and its contiguous neighbor, Bearsden, are very quiet, safe towns. They also boast the ruins of a Roman Bathhouse and the remnants of the Wall of Hadrian’s little known northern sibling, The Antonine Wall, dating from circa AD 142. The property itself stands on its own one acre lot. The garden is beautiful and our only disappointment was that we could not see it during the summer. The cooking facilities were more than ample to prepare the meal for such a large gathering. Although the house can sleep as many as twenty people, we only had eight guests who were with us all week, so we had plenty of room. Having three bathrooms was a blessing! Our hosts, Chris and Frances, were extremely gracious and helpful. They provided extra tables, chairs and glasses etc, for our meal, and were always available to help us problem solve when needed. Chris, and his son Alasdair, went so far as to come over on Christmas morning to help us set up for the day. We would highly recommend this property, and would use it again. This is a truly exceptional property. We traveled from California and Chris was very accommodating with our ever changing arrival time. The property was just as described, and was perfect for my family as well as the other guests that joined us. The garden was a huge hit (the treehouse especially) with my young girls and being walled gave us peace of mind. The local shops were just 5 minutes walk away and the station just a minute further made day trips into Glasgow a very easy proposition. I can't recommend this property highly enough. Even check-out was a breeze thanks to Chris anticipating our needs.
We rented this house from Chris during my wedding in Glasgow. We had 16 guests staying at this house a long with a 10-15 more that would stop by throughout the day during wedding festivities. The house accommodated everyone comfortably. I would highly recommend staying at Chris's place for the following reasons: House - the house is on a private lot with a huge backyard. Chris allowed us to put up a 20x20 meter marquee and it easily fit. Inside there was a large living room/kitchen area where everyone from our party was able to enjoy breakfast together. There were also enough dishes and pots to allow us to cook large breakfasts in the mornings. The rooms were also spacious comfortable. Neighborhood - the house is a 4 minute walk to milngavie town center and groceries. It was quiet and serene. Getting to Glasgow was no problem and around 20£ one way. Uber wasn't available in the town, but getting dropped off there from Glasgow was no prob. Host - I would give 6 stars if possible. Chris was a courteous host from the second I booked the house. He helped me plan he marquee setup before I got there, had pizza waiting for me when I arrived late to the checkin and was always available throughout the stay. My family loved him and even invited him the wedding. I can't thank Chris enough for his hospitality and generosity.
Two wonderful hosts, a wonderful house in a wonderful location. Easy access to Loch Lomond and beyond. One of our young people was ill during our trip which needed a visit to hospital. Chris and Frances (the owners) could not have done more to support us in this situation. They went over and above kindness and made a difference. We would book this house again just because of the location and the main living area which is superb. But we would also book it again because of two very good people.
