For families, there are plenty of great days out to keep the little ones entertained including Bowhill House set amidst a magnificent country estate; Alewater Valley with tracks and trails for cyclists, walkers and horse riders to explore with an abundance of wildlife to spot along the way; and Harestanes Visitors Centre with its superb outdoor play area. The iconic World Heritage site of Hadrian's Wall is also within easy reach, as is the City of Edinburgh (with an abundance of attractions) and the beautiful Northumberland coastline with its glorious golden beaches and incredible wildlife.

There are plenty of opportunities for mountain biking throughout Ale Water Valley and along the tracks and trails accessible from the estate. Alternatively, explore some of the country's top mountain bike trails at Glentress Forest - just a half hour drive from New Woll estate.

Horse riders will struggle to find a better place for a riding holiday. Sitting on the Buccleuch Country Ride (Scotland's first long distance trail), you have miles and miles of stunning scenery for you and your four legged friend to discover together. Grass livery in secure paddocks is offered by the Estate and the Ian Stark Equestrian Centre is just a short distance away offering excellent facilities and pony trekking. Clay pigeon shooting can also be arranged adding to the diversity of activities available throughout your stay.
