KALKAN
Kalkan is the jewel in the crown of the Turquoise Coast. It is a Mediterranean fishing village with old Bougainvillia clad buildings, shops, roof-top bars and restaurants linked by narrow cobbled streets. The locals are all incredibly friendly, and adore children. Kalkan is spoilt for choice for restaurants-many of which have delightful roof-terraces with spectacular views. It is a sleepy place during the day-but at night comes alive as people arrive to shop and eat out. The myriad of shops offer traditional turkish items from carpets, leather goods and spices to all kinds of designer clothes, silverware , jewellery and beautiful pottery. There are many supermarkets, butchers, and greengrocers, some of which will deliver to the villa.
Sea Taxis operate during the day from the harbour taking people to the various Kalkan Beach Clubs..
Kalkan is a very popular stop-off point for Gulet and sailing holidays-the harbour is often packed with beautiful boats, some of which can be hired, very reasonably, for a days trip around the bays and islands off the local coast. All trips include a delicious lunch with excellent local wine and beer!!
Kaputas Beach is a 10 minute drive to the East with its beautiful sandy beach, and Patarra Beach is a 15 minute drive to the West - one of the Worlds Top 10 Beaches 12 miles long - deserted in places, with many ancient ruins. It is also a protected area to ensure the safety of the Turtles that nest there every year..
Many people return to Kalkan year after year, entranced by its charms and lovely weather, and many good friendships are made there...
LYCIA
Kalkan is set in the heart of the old Lycian region... There are some spectacular ancient ruins within a short drive which, unlike the UK , one can actually walk on and around. The closest ones are Xanthos (the old Lycian Capital), Patarra and Tlos, with the sunken City of Kekova an hour away , where you can view the sunken ruins from a glass-bottomed boat.
Saklikent Gorge, a 30 minute drive away, is the longest and deepest Limestone gorge in Turkey. The ice cold water gushes out of mountain springs...It is a spectacular walk and there are some excellent restaurants....From here you can also go white-water rafting down the river which is excellent fun...
The Taurus Mountains tower behind Kalkan, and in winter are often snow-capped. The Lycian Way passes within a couple of miles of the village...The brave can parascend back down in 20 minutes after an hours drive up, and land back in Kalkan Harbour!!...A trip up into the mountains and surrounding villages is highly reccommended..
The combination of the wonderful weather, beautiful beaches, ancient history, turquoise sea, staggering scenery, and the wonderful welcome, make Kalkan somewhere you will want to come back to time-and-time again...

My Husband and I have now stayed at this wonderful villa twice & plan to come back every year going forward! Already looking forward to booking again for our 2020 trip! If you want to have the most relaxing experience as a couple or a family then Villa Coco is the place to stay! The villa itself is stunning with unbelievable mountain and sea views from balconies, lounge and terrace. The bedrooms are all spacious and very clean, comfy beds, luxury linen and all the amenities one needs. We enjoyed many great barbecue nights on the gorgeous terrace. My highlight has to be the gorgeous infinity pool with sea view. Looking forward to returning soon

We loved our week here, the moment of arrival at 1am climbing the steps to see the moon over the bay and the swimming pool was just fantastic. The girls loved having the top level to themselves; the balcony up there is a top spot to take the view. Local facilities excellent: the Kalamar beach club and the (quiet) Hotel Elixir were repeat visits for us. Nearby Patara and Saklikent are terrific days out.
Recommend bring all sorts of mosquito repellents. Overall: Turifik!

I was lucky enough to spend a glorious week in Villa Coco this summer. (August 2012).
The villa is fabulously located, set in a quiet residential area with the most amazing views, but within very close proximity to the town and all it has to offer. The beach club is just a few steps down the hill.
The villa is stunning, very well set out for families with all the practical things needed for a holiday (a well equipped kitchen, plenty of lounge space, and great outdoor entertaining facilities)
The infinity pool is beautiful and a welcome relief to cool down from the endless days of sunshine.
The area of Kalkan has so much to offer, and I can highly recommend taking one of the many tours or trips (all of these are clearly detailed in the Villa Coco handbook).
I shall definitely be returning next year!!!!

The property has one of the best views of the sea - it is fantasticlally well supplied with water coolers, air conditioning, great showers and the location is absolutely perfect. I would highly recommend this property for a family or simply a long weekend getaway. The area is fascinating, the people delightful and exceptionally good value. There is something for everyone of all ages. The sea is crystal clear - the beaches beautiful.

We spent two fantastic weeks at Villa Coco at the end of August 2011. Our first time to the villa and to Turkey. Wonderful pool and view. Ertan and his wife (Pool man/cleaner) were very friendly and approachable. The villa itself is large and well appointed. We would definately hire the villa again but not in August (too hot!!) although it was great having air conditioning, which was very much needed.! Nice touches such as the water cooler that would not be expected in a holiday rental.

The villa exceeded our expectations. It was clean, bright, spacious and contained everything you need and more. We had two families staying in the villa (7 people) and it still felt spacious!
We had a problem with the fridge on our second day but it was remedied quickly and efficiently by the local team who are fantastic! The people can not do enough to help you, The pool was fabulous and the views amazing!
The walk into Kalkan is hilly but taxis are cheap and readily available making it easy to get into town. There are some nice stops on route when walking which made it very pleasant,
Kalkan itself is beautiful and again we found the people to be helpful and friendly. The choice of restaurants is phenominal and the quality of the food good.
Thank you - we had a fantastic holiday and will definitely be back!

We have been to Kalkan on numerous occasions-twice booking a villa through Villa Renters. We then bought a villa 2 years ago as we loved the place so much and it has been the best decision we ever made - something for all the family, all ages catered for and a magical holiday.
