Overview

Our house, AmaLiz, is situated in Calis Beach, one of the best areas near Fethiye. Because the Calis Beach area is situated between two mountains, there is always a lovely sea breeze blowing through the town. Within a few minutes walking distance are the beach, shops and pubs, and Sunday market. The house is not on a development but a street of the town itself, near the main road between Calis & Fethiye. Amaliz is within easy walking distance of all amenities (including the local bazaar). You will be staying very near the bus route, so you can ride at any time either to the main Calis Promenade (tho the beach is easily accessible by foot) or Fethiye or further shopping in Calis!

Half of a semi, it has its own garden with room for two cars in the drive, or you may park in front. on the street. It is a quiet area, so you can relax and enjoy!

On GoogleEarth, exact location is:
Latituide 36°3926.54"N
Longitude 29° 70.38"E

The beach is a short walk away in one direction, as is the local Sunday Bazaar in the other direction. The larger Fethiye Bazaar is an easy bus ride away on Tuesday and is large enough to spend a day. On Friday is the Fethiye Produce Market in the same location as the Tuesday Market. Occasionally there is also an occasional Cooperative Market (think a huge Turkish WI sale and you will be spot on!) Supermarkets are also very close to the villa, so supplies are not an issue.

Amaliz Interior and Exterior

We chose this home because of its beauty, practicality and privacy. The enclosed garden to the front and side make a safe haven for children The greenery has grown since the photos and provide shade. The front/side terrace and and 2nd floor balconies are large enough for a table and chairs, while the 2 roof terraces are the size of 1/2 the floor area - large enough to entertain. There is a bbq outside the kitchen area on the patio. All balconies have a table and at least two chairs.

The house is designed with separate entrances so more families can stay together. At this time, there is just one kitchen on the ground floor. The ground floor has a large living room (only half is shown in the photo), the dining area, kitchen, and bathroom with shower. The second floor has a large bedroom suite with ensuite/shower and balcony, two further bedrooms (both share a large balcony) and bathroom with jacuzzi tub and hot water heater/shower. The top floor has the large bedroom with its own solarium, wc/shower, and a larger solarium for everyone's use. (this bedroom is not pictured) There is a utility area on the top floor with washing and ironing facilities.

There are pools across the narrow street at the hotels. They are wonderful there, and if you have a drink or food, they are happy to let you use the pool. Personally, we prefer this, as we know that with a pool, the house would soon be full of all the neighboring kids and Mom would have no rest at all as she fixes dinner for everyone as they are by the pool and constantly mops up the water tracked on the floors. This way, everyone gets to relax and have an enjoyable time with no worries and stress. The prices are amazing there, so no worries....you can eat and drink there reasonably! However, we are considering putting a pool in, so if it is vital to your holiday, please check back.

What does AmaLiz have?

We list this as a “luxury” villa because of the size, the amenities (like games and art supplies & multiple DVD players/stereos, etc.). Not because it has maid service, new linens for each party and is without fault. It’s a family home. There are faults. We are happy to fix any issues you might have. If you would complain that our personal food (which we offer to share) is out of date, this might not be the place for you. Because most likely some of the tea will be out of date. We don’t mind that. Other people do.

Well, as much as you could expect considering it is our home! Naturally, the kitchen is fully equipped and includes a microwave, oven/cooker and dishwasher. There is a large refidgerator/freezer for long visits and large families. There is a washing machine and miscellaneous. There is the all important air conditioning and heating for year-round holidays. If you want to stay in, there is Sat TV with separate receivers in the living area and master bedroom. We have ensured that there is English and European tv so noone misses their soaps! (Please say if English tv is a necessity as the satellite dishes sometimes need retuned.) There is a DVD player in both the living room and master bedroom & an extra. 1 player is SD card compatible. (DVDs in various languages are available cheaply everywhere), playstation with games, books, games (children and adult), writing materials, toys (sorry, mostly boys), pool inflatables, and much much more. There is a stereo system for MP3, radio and CD's. Naturally, all the household items such as combination safe, hair dryer, iron/board, etc. are there. The list will change as we travel back and forth, but you can be sure that the playstation and dvd players will stay.

New additions: MP3 speakers in living room and master bedroom for the ipods, etc
shopping trolly for the big trips to the market
refrigerator on top floor so easy access to ice/drinks on roof terraces
3 bicycles with bicycle locks.
1 adult Tricycle with ample carrying basket
3 beach parasols and lots of varied beach towels

Internet is available at no cost for 1G. The manager has the dongle & will deliver it with the keys. If you need more G, text him & he will get it for you (you pay him for it.)

Amaliz is also a "bookcrossing" zone. We hope that you will take, enjoy, and pass on the bookcrossing books provided and perhaps leave some for future guests.

We also have a wonderful Turkish gentleman who manages the property and who will sort out any need or problem which you have. From a welcoming packet of food, to organising rental cars, tours or translation services, his helpful, efficient and professional manner will ensure that anything you need will be sorted out.

We do allow smoking ONLY OUTSIDE and provide ashtrays for use outside. In the house itself, smoking is not allowed as it discolours the furnishings. There are many areas and balconies in which to smoke, so we ask that you do respect this.

Pets are allowed, but only as far as under the stairs in the hallway. There is no pet bedding.

THE LOCAL AREA:

Within a couple minutes walk:

The swimming pools are under a minute's walk away. The Harman Hotel is my Turkish home away from home and the walk-in pool is always spotless. They also have free wireless

2 Tennis courts with a running track and children's play area have just been built next to the Harman. Gorgeous - go and play or go and watch!

BIM supermarket - for essentials - not big but with meat, dairy, a bit of fruit and drinks and essentials.
There are also other supermarkets quite close

Within a 5 minute walk there are so many amenities:

The Pazar Cafe is a local english hangout - brilliant prices, free WiFi and you can make a free telephone call home if you eat a meal

The hardware shop (you know you have to look!)

The Sunday Market

A bit further are 2 new supermarkets - not huge ones, but ones where you can find most things.

The "humpback bridge" is the closest access to the beach. It is a maximum of a 10 minute walk, even strolling slowly. A decent walk gets you to the closest beach in about 5 minutes. A 1 minute walk gets you to the bus route where you can catch the bus to the centre of Calis & the main Promenade & tourist shops. It is about a 15 minute walk.

Upon rental, I send guests a comprehensive rental information pack with more information and maps, etc.

Please note that the rental is for the people listed on the booking only. We have had a UK booking for 8 which was in reality a global family reunion with 25. This is not acceptable and you will be asked to vacate.

We stayed at the villa in August 2023. It's a really big place, well equipped and in a brilliant location.
There is a local shop just about 5 min walk.
The beach is about 15 min walk and it's a lovely lovely beach and not busy at all! There are lots and lot's of restaurants and cafes and the prices are very reasonable if not cheap.
Overall, it's a lovely place to have a peaceful holiday!

Thank you for your review, Yuliya! I’m glad you enjoyed your stay! I hope you made it to the Sunday Market, which was a 10 minute walk in the other direction!

It is a beautiful place, peaceful and serene. You are welcome anytime!

Excellent holiday! Location nice and close to transport links, but quiet and relaxing. Villa pictures do not do it justice - it is huge. A slight issue with the electrics partway through was dealt with swiftly, and didn't affect our plans. Plenty of excursions run from close by, and the beach is within easy distance. The nearby Harman Hotel is indeed a good spot to use a pool, and when you're done you can just wander back to the villa in swimsuit and towel if you feel like it, as it is so close (or there are showers at the pool). I'd recommend the Jeep Safari for fun (pick up from Harman Hotel), and for relaxing, a trip on a small boat that doesn't go to the major tourist spots is ideal (from Fethiye itself, but some will be able to arrange local pickup from the Harman Hotel). I wouldn't recommend this area for diving though, but snorkelling is still pretty.
Overall, brilliant, and we are already planning our next visit!

• Was it good value for money?
Yes it was very good value for money, large and well appointed with plenty of extras.
• Did it meet your expectations?
It more than met our expectations, we were delighted with it.
• Was the description accurate?
Yes, very. There was a lovely breeze blowing every day so that although it was hot we never felt over heated.
• Would you recommend it to a friend?
Yes definitely. An extra attraction was the pool at the Harman hotel which is is large and they are very welcoming too.
• Were you adequately looked after during your stay?
Yes we were, the Turkish villa manager was really helpful in arranging transfers and also being on
hand to introduce us at the Harman, and show us the property.

What a fabulous holiday. A really spacious, comfortable villa just a short walk (or an even shorter jog) down to a splendid beach.
The accommodation is smart, roomy, lovely cool marble floors, all mod cons and amazing value for money, even if there are not enough of you to fill all the bedrooms.
I had not been to Turkey before and was very impressed by the friendly courteous attitude of the local people. The market is busy and bustling but the people were always polite and helpful and allowed you space so that I always felt relaxed and not hassled at all. It may not be the traditional land flowing with milk and honey but the yoghurt and honey from the market are fantastic, unrecognisable from the UK supermarket equivalents, as is the fresh fruit and veg.
The beach is splendid and the beach-side cafes and restaurants just as they should be.
Go there, you will love it!

Have just returned from Amaliz ,having spent 2 lovely weeks there. The house is lovely .So much room and set in a really lovely area of Callis. All the facilities you require for self catering are there. But eating out in the area is as cheap as cooking yourself. The villa is set in residential area and not surrounded by hotels etc,so is extremely quiet and restful. The views from the villa are gorgeous, from the distant mountains to the surrounding houses which have gardens full of beautiful plants and flowers. The house has sun terraces off each bedroom and you can follow the sun all day. All the rooms have beautiful curtains to keep your room cool and of course a/c. Was lovely having large dining areas inside and out to have our relaxing meals together. There is a hotel called The Harman just a short stroll away ,where we lazed by the pool in gorgeous surroundings for the price of a drink.Callis seafront is just a 15 min walk away ,a walk you dont notice as lots of interesting shops on the way. Plenty of supermarkets closeby ,and a weekly market which is amazing. The local bus is just round the corner and runs every few minutes until midnight. . Loved the house,Loved being amongst the locals who are lovely friendly people.Loved how easy it was to get to other places. Loved our lazy days on the sun terraces and bbqs at night . Loved it so much going back in September.

This review was taken from the Guestbook in Amaliz."6 October 2005We are leaving. (drawn sad face)We have had a fabulous time. First off let me congratulate you on this beautiful home. We were all blown away with it on first sight and were certainly not disappointed when we came inside. It is truly lovely and you have gone to a great deal of trouble to make it homely.Thank you for telling us about the Harman pool, we put it to good use. We had a day at the mud baths and Turtle Beach. It was superb. Unfortunately a couple of us were struck down by a tummy bug but it only lasted 24 hours. Gemma had her birthday on Sunday and we had a beautiful meal at George's Steakhouse which included fireworks and a fire eater. Our biggest treat was hiring a boat all to ourselves for the day and spent it sailing & swimming. It was fantastic, a day none of us will forget. So again thank you for having us - it was truly a holiday to remember. The Blairs from Scotland

Extra information

This villa is huge - bigger than the photos, we have been told. Over 3 floors, but the layout is such that the ground floor may be used as an independant unit with bedroom and sitting room. The garden is large (greenery has grown since photos) and fenced for children. The pool is across the small street at a hotel - this may seem like a disadvantage, but Mom, you will not have to be fetching drinks and food all the time - You can sit and enjoy yourself!

Hi there. We have had this villa for the last 10 years or so, using it as our home whenever we can. It is not an investment, it is our home away from home. The neighbors are lovely - they will always tell you good morning. The area is lovely. We are always available for questions or comments or anything you might need - before, during or after your trip.
