Everything was great.

This cottage is the perfect place to stay when you're near Hikkaduwa! Close to the beach, very nice room, also with a lovely place to sit outside! This family is so wonderful & kind, we really felt welcome here! You really should eat the rice & curry of Lakshan's mom (at least one time!) because it was sooo delicious!! Maybe even the best rice & curry we had in 2 weeks :-)

Très jolie petite maison avec un porche et jardin qui donne beaucoup d’intimité. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l’emplacement et la proximité de la plage et des marchés. Nous recherchions la tranquilité et nos hôtes ont bien répondu à cet attente. Ils étaient aussi attentifs à nos demandes! À l’intérieur de la maison, il y avait tout le nécessaire pour se faire des repas et faire son lavage. C’était très pratique. Cette maison a beaucoup de potentiel!

Lakshan and his family are very friendly and nice people. They live nearby and are always ready to offer their help. The house has a convenient location, only a few minutes walk to the beach. We really enjoyed spending our time at the outdoor terrace and often had meals there. I highly recommend this accommodation option and will gladly book again should I travel to Hikkaduwa in future.

An excellent choice if you need to be near the beach, it's only a 5 minute walk, shops and restaurants nearby too but the best thing of all are the host family, always happy to help with any requests, very friendly family, such nice people, would highly recommend a stay here, I stayed for 3 months and really didn't want to leave, they even organised a leaving BBQ for me and even included me in family events like birthdays and anniversary events, so sweet.

Lakshan and his family were extremely welcoming and hospitable. Nothing was too hard. The dinner prepared for us was the best food we have had in Sri Lanka and the breakfast was delicious. Our toddler still asks for egg hoppers when we ask what she wants for breakfast.

Lakshan, his home, his family and everyone we met while staying with him are amazing. The apartment is in a perfect quiet location yet it is close to the beach, stores, and restaurants. The apartment is clean, has a good AC, great wifi, nice kitchen and bathroom and comfortable bed. The apartment had everything we needed. Lakshan and his family and friends are all very kind and truly made our trip to Hikkaduwa a wonderful time. We will be back!

Nice quiet, little place a short walk away from the beach with super friendly hosts. Lakshan's brother even gave me surf lessons.

We had a very pleasant stay with our small son and really enjoyed the house and Lakshan's family around having small chats here and there. The house was a described bedded in a nice garden/jungle site and had everything you need. Everything we asked for was arranged very promptly. We can only recommend Lakshan and his family.

We loved staying at Lakshan' s place. Lakshan is a wonderful host, lovely person and very helpful. He met us at the train station when we arrived and dropped us off as well. All his family is very warm and friendly. The place is clean, with a nice bathroom, hot water and a perfect little kitchen with everything you might need, including a fridge and a washing machine. The outside seating is amazing, spacious, super comfortable, with a lovely garden. The place is situated in nicer and quieter part of town, within a 2 minute walk to the beach and main street with the shops. There is a lovely rustic bar Bambos on the left side of the beach. It is a great place for drinks on the beach and meals, very good prices and it is away from the touristic and overpriced beach restaurants. Ask Lakshan for directions! :-) We higly recommend this place :-) Thank you!

Very nice place to stay in Hikkaduwa. Close to the beach but very quit in a lovely garden. Very helpful and friendly family.

If your looking for somewhere peaceful, off the beach front and want to experience some village life, this is the place to stay. An amazing spacious studio space, next to family home in a gated garden. You can play tunes and really feel you have your privacy. It felt very safe. It has a great area outside to sit and eat or chill and take in the lovely garden, birds and wildlife. Lakshan and his family are great, and really looked after us. Lakshan has a rickshaw, picked and dropped us off at the station , took us on a mini morning tour to see some local history/sights. Lakshan even bought us some traditional hoppers to eat outside in the evening, very cheap and VERY tasty! Recommend The Joint bar which is on beach front and very close to Lakshans, great day beds and music. Lakshan can also show you where to go to yoga which is a 10 min walk away, and get an aurevedic massage. Loved it! Deborah and Matt x

Het is een paar minuten lopen naar het strand, restaurants, winkels en nachtleven. En het zit toch op een rustige plek. Wij gingen naar Pearle beach hotel voor ligbedden op strand (gratis), je kan ook tegen betaling (500 lkr) gebruik daar maken van het zwembad. Lakshan heeft ons vriendelijk ontvangen, zijn moeder en vrouw kunnen niet echt Engels, maar met handen en voeten kom je een heel eind.

Beautiful family who are attentive and friendly. The position is ideal in relation to proximity to the beach and restaurants. Feels like a bit of a retreat from the busy main road. Our only concern was the comfortability of the bed. The mattress could do with some more cushioning. Thanks for having us :)

Great simple home in Hikkaduwa! Lakshan and his family are wonderful hosts and make you feel right at home. Lovely place to enjoy the beaches of Sri Lanka! Easily accessible by train to neighboring towns.

Just a perfect stay at this little cottage. Very simple but with everything we needed. Just 5 minutes walk from the most beautiful beach ! Lakshan & his family were helpful in everyway they could be but also respected our privacy too. A perfect location for us and a perfect stay.

Lakshan and his family were the perfect hosts and definitely made our holiday that bit more special. The apartment is fantastic, a good size and the outside area is spot on. Lakshan (and family) along with wonderful beach just a few mins away made this a perfect little stop for us, everything we wanted was there. More peaceful than hikkaduwa with great food nearbye and also cooked for us, very enjoyable stay with lovely people will come again.

If you want a bit of privacy and to be off the main drag which is busy, this is the place. A nice sized studio with lovely outside seating area. Lashkan was very helpful and also got us a moped. Would highly recommend. 3 min walk to the beach, shops and bars.

Our stay at Lakshan's cottage was fantastic. He picked us up from the train station and helped settle us in. We we're a few mins walk from the beach and all the little eateries. Such a great host with a lovely family!! Highly recommend.

The cottage was fully consistent with his description. It vas very cozy) And there was everything we needed to rest! Especially we liked the gorgeous veranda, where we had breakfast and sometimes met with exotic animals :) The host, Lakshan, and his family are very friendly and hospitable people! Lashkan helped us in all our questions, and even organized for us an amazing trip to Adam's Peak! He is a very responsible person! Many thanks for our holiday, Lakshan! Waiting in Moscow ;)

Our stay with Lakshan was great! He made the arrival process smooth, his communication was great and he went out of his way to provide stellar service. This home is located perfectly on the edges of the Hikkaduwa strip, with a short scooter or tuk tuk ride to the town center. We were woken up once by the chanting at the local Buddhist temple, but otherwise managed to sleep well for the test of the time here. The home also comes with a washing machine!!

The place is more amazing as the picture shows. The family is one of the kindest what we met at sri lanka. The room is clean and confortable with enough kitchen stuff to cook nice meals. Thanks a lot!

Lakshan and his family were very kind and welcoming. We spent 5 nights at the cottage and it was just as expected from the listing: very clean, close enough to the main road to be easily accessible, and wi-fi and A/C working properly. The noise from the train tracks wasn't a nuisance. However, on special occasions you might have an early wake up call from the prayer at the temple close by.

Lakshan is really nice also his brother,his mother ,his wife.And by the way his son is cute which has a big wonderful eyes .We rented a motobike from Lashan,and got the tips of him.I love this place is clean ,comfortable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with lakshan! Lakshan and his family were very welcoming and friendly. The cottage is well maintained and beautifully located. It is just a few minutes to the beach and a short walk into town! It is nicely hidden away from the Main Street making in very peaceful! Would highly recommend to anyone.

Lakshan house and his family just great! Family lived in the neighboring house in the yard, very nice, responsive and unobtrusive people. Our 1,10 years old son just run to play with them all the time. The house is very comfortable, clean, modern and authentic. There was a small garden and a terrace on the house territory, where we spent most of the time. It has a kitchen with everything you need. Narigama Beach in three minutes walk from the house. The beach is wide and almost empty. The house wass located near the railway station, but it didn't disturb us at all. Really would like to come back! Definitely will recommend Lakshan house to our friends!”

Translated from Russian: Laksana was very welcoming, met us at the bus stop and drove to the house. The house is cozy and equipped with everything you need (kitchen with utensils, hot water, internet, air conditioning). Laksana helped hire a bike and was ready to provide any other assistance as the rest of his family, who lives in the neighborhood. The house has a cool patio surrounded by greenery, which is very nice to have breakfast or just spend time watching exotic animals. Trains hear, but they do not interfere and go very often. On Sunday, we woke up the noise of a nearby school.

Lakshan and his family were really nice and open-minded. He picked us up from a hotel close to the apartment when we arrived at hikkaduwa and brought us to our place. We had a good stay and felt comfortable. Sometimes you can hear the trains, apart from that the area is really quiet. Thank you for the nice stay Lakshan!

We had a very good experience staying with Lakshan. The place was perfect and had everything we needed. The porch was particularly nice. It's fairly close to the train tracks but that didn't bother us. It can also be difficult to find, but Lakshan was kind enough to pick us up from the train station.

Très bon accueil, Chambre et salle de bain parfaite juste la propreté cuisine à revoir. la famille peut à la fois répondre à nos besoins et sait aussi se montrer discrète si cela correspond à nos besoins. L'endroit est certes situé près du train mais cela ne gêne pas plus que ça (il faut savoir que de toute façon au Sri Lanka le train longe la côte), il est agréable d'être à un peu de distance de la route principale pour profiter du calme du jardin.

This is an amazing place to stay. It's not on the beach but it is tucked back in the jungle. The beach is a short walk away. The amenities are awesome, especially for someone like me who has been traveling for a few weeks. There is a kitchen, hot shower, wifi, air conditioning, and best of all, a laundry machine! The hosts are really wonderful there to answer any questions yet very respectful of your space. It was truly a wonderful way to experience Hikkaduwa.

Great place for a relaxing holiday. A cozy cottage is fully equipped for a comfortable stay. Lakshan and his family are very friendly and attentive people. We had help in everything! A small but very nice garden. Ocean in a 5-minute slow walk. Near Thiranagama station small fruit and vegetable market. Rarely a passing train hoot at night, we did not care. There are much cheaper options. But if I'm in Hikkaduwa again, I stopped with Lakshan!

The host Lakshan was very friendly and speaks good english. He met me from the town so no problems finding the cottage. It is in a lovely big tropical garden (lots of coconut trees) near to the family house, but separate in its own space with outside verandah. Very comfortable sleeping with aircon & fan with large bed under a mosquito net. There is also a separate little kitchen and good bathroom with shower. It is all very clean with nice towels & linen. Lakshan also took me to the local Hikkaduwa markets & then the family cooked and shared an evening fish barbecue in the gardens. The cottage is very close (walking distance) to the ocean with its beautiful long beach, nearby are little shops and bakery. The host and his family are always helpful and on hand if needed but not intrusive. The cottage is ideal for solo travellers and couples looking for a hideaway that's great value for money. It's a relaxing place to stay & easy to get to the beach & town when you want and lovely people who look after you.

Wir verbrachten 3 Nächte im appartment von saman citis bzw lakshan und familie. Die Unterkunft ist wirklich sehr schön und liegt inmitten eines tropischen gartens. Zum strand ist es auch nicht weit, ca 2 Minuten zu Fuß. Jeder der Familie war sehr sehr hilfsbereit und wirklich sehr freundlich. Auch bei der nachlieferung des Gepäcks (dieses kam zwei tage verspätet in sri lanka an) wurden wir mit vollstem einsatz unterstützt. Danke nochmal!!!!Wir können die unterkunft nur weiter empfehlen...komm als gast und gehe als freund :)

The guesthouse is really comforteble and clean. We stayed there for 5 days. To the beach is just a few meters walking. Saman and his family are friendy, and the respect our privacy. There is only one guesthouse, so there is no contact with others. The house is in a garden. We stayed there only for the nights becourse there is no internet, and therefore we went to the beach. In fact we found it a lonely place, others will love it. You can here the birds and in the morning apes are running over the roof.

Отличное расположение. Рядом железная дорога, но она не мешает. Шикарный пляж в минуте пешком. Гостеприимные хозяева. Большой безопасный красивый двор. Дом соответствует описанию. Нам понравилось! :) Во дворе живет одноглазый кот, будет выпрашивать еду))))

We stayed in Saman's holiday home this September for 15 days in total. Having stayed at Saman’s place in July 2010 I can recommend this as an excellent place to spend your holiday.Nestled in lush Sri Lankan jungle and only 2 minutes’ walk from Narigama beach, the bungalow includes everything you could want with a self-sufficient kitchen, a washing machine and a breezy outdoor area where you can sit and while away the time or entertain friends. Waking up in the morning you can have your breakfast whilst gazing at the lush tropical garden, watching out for local birds and if you're lucky, glimpsing a bit of wildlife such as monkeys or monitor lizards.Close enough to walk to restaurants, shops and the beach but tucked away amidst 'real' Sri Lankan life Saman's gives you the best of both worlds.
