Casita De La Luz
Cottage with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and private pool in Órgiva, Spain
From €605 per week
A perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle. A traditional 2 bedroom Casita hidden among olive groves within the breathtaking Alpujarras Mountains,
Overview
Entrance to the casita is from the covered porch, where a table and seating is provided for you to enjoy breakfast in the morning sunshine or lunch in the shade of the large avocado tree.
This leads into an open plan living area where there is a wood burning stove, comfortable seating for 4 and a dining table and chairs for 4, there is also a TV and DVD with satellite. The kitchen area was renovated in January 2010 and has been designed in the local country style. It contains a range style oven, fridge with small freezer, microwave, electric kettle and toaster as well as all glassware, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils you may need.
There are two spacious bedrooms one with a king sized bed and the other with twin beds, each bedroom has a fitted wardrobe, electric fan and romantic mosquito curtains and decorated with Moorish influences.
The bathroom is also spacious including full bath with shower over and is flooded with extra light from the coloured glass in the small dome in the roof .
We also ensure that on your arrival there are a few essential food and drink items for you, in case you do not have time to shop on your way. Where possible we provide home produce from our garden (including fresh eggs from our chickens).
We live in the original Cortijo some 50 metres or so away from the casita. Although close by we take every care to ensure that guests enjoy their peace and privacy.
The Casita is nestled in beautiful fragrant gardens, surrounded by olive and orange trees, with outastanding mountaion views you can see 4 different mountain ranges.
The Casita has had a newly fitted kitchen January 2010 including granite worktops, range oven and refrigerator with freezer box.
The elegantly shaped swimming pool is chlorine free. It is situated between the casita and main house and is available for exclusive use of clients. There are sun beds with mattresses for relaxing by the pool or in the tranquil gardens. There is also a table and chairs by the pool if you would like to have a relaxing lunch here, taking in the stunning mountain views.
Fresh cotton bed linen and towels are provided and changed twice weekly. Pool towels can be provided upon request.
The very Spanish town of Orgiva attracts people from all over Europe, probably due to Chris Stewart and his books about the area, Driving over Lemons and Parrot in a Pepper Tree among them. It’s just a few minutes’ drive away from the Casita or a pleasant 20-25 minute walk. Most facilities are to be found including cafes, bars, restaurants, banks, shops, pharmacies and small supermarkets. A weekly market takes place on Thursday mornings.
Granada, an hour away, is an amazing city of unique shops, an Arab quarter, cafes and restaurants and of course the famous 700 year old Alhambra Palace, with fantastic architecture and ancient, beautiful gardens. The winter ski slopes near Granada are about an hour and twenty minutes away.
Beaches to the south at Motril and Salobrena are about a 35 minute drive away. Or you can travel a little further to Almunecar, Herradura or Marina del Este on the Costa Tropical.
You can walk, climb, cycle or horse ride close by in the Alpuharras Mountains.
Malaga Airport is an hour and forty five minute drive away. Granada airport is closer at an hours drive, but there are fewer flights to choose from.

A beautiful Cassita with excellent facilities and warm welcoming owners.

Very nicely located and decorated, beautiful garden, beds very comfortable, all stuff in good quality. Friendly owners, who provided good info on all our questions, nice welcome food.
Only negative aspect (but not related to owners) : we had not received arrival instructions, our mail on this was not answered, and the location is very difficult to find (as they said: it is really a miracle that you did find it, we had spend hours walking and asking around).

This Casita is a beautiful property set in tranquil gardens providing a perfect hideaway for a relaxing holiday. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and everything you could possible need was either already there or was easily provided by Pauline and Michael, who were perfect hosts.
Although there is no air conditioning in the property, large fans are provided which help with the heat overnight and we personally felt that the addition of air conditioning would somehow detract from the rustic appeal of the Casita.
Fantastic weather, stunning scenery and excellent facilities were made even more special by the attention to detail provided by the hosts. Welcomed with homemade bread and Jam, wine, beer and fruit it is impossible not to feel relaxed from the moment you arrive.
This will be my first choice when I next need to escape life!

Pauline and Mike couldnt do enough to help make the stay a memorable one. The property was lovely and clean and had little personal touches which made all the difference. The one thing I would say is that people who are uncomfortable in the company of dogs may find Ollie (young, friendly and very lively dog) a little overwhelming. Otherwise, a great place and great holiday.
Thank you

The Casita is a home away from home but better. Sunshine, fresh ripe fruit straight from the trees outside the door, a pool with fantastic views so when relaxing you don’t feel so bad about not going sightseeing – again. A huge thank you to our wonderful hosts – you made our stay even better with all your help and advice. When friend and family ask for tips on Spain – yours will be the first name from our lips.”Amanda & Ken – Sydney, Australia by way of Copenhagen11th September 2009:“Thank you so much for the warm welcome and the beautiful Casita. Never having been to the Alpujarras before we weren’t quite sure what to expect when we left the coast road last Saturday but thanks to your help & advice we now feel quite at home and would love to stay longer. The Alhambra was of course astonishing but our day down at Playa Cabria was also wonderful, not to mention just lazing by the pool!”Mick & Lindsey – East Twickenham15 August 2009:“Thank you very much for a most enjoyable stay. It has been so wonderful and relaxing. The ‘real world’ seema a million miles away and we think that feeling is mainly down to Pauline & Michael. From the warm welcome when we first arrived, Pauline’s fresh baked bread, the fresh fruit and veg Michael picked and brought us. They showed us all the best places to eat and visit, but best of all showed us how to relax. So thank you both for welcoming us into your home.”Debbie & Carl – Stamford, England13th June 2009:“We would like to thank you both very much for helping to make our stay in your beautiful Casita as relaxed and enjoyable as possible, with your thoughtful provision of every item we might require. Also more interesting through your sharing of your wealth of local knowledge. The Casita is wonderful, the views exquisite and we couldn’t have asked for more. Sipping our 3 euros Cava at night listening to the various sounds of nature made us relaxed and able to forget all the stresses of London life. Thanks for all your help and for having such a wonderful place.”Carol & Tim – London, UK2nd May 2009:“We came for sun, scenery and relaxation – the weather has (mostly) been kind but the scenery surpasses anything we had dreamed of, as does this charming Casita. Sipping beer in the beautiful garden is a treat! Thank you for your advice – most welcome – and the fruit and veg from your garden. These unexpected touches make your home even more welcoming.”Lesley & Alan – Berkshire, England5th April 2009:“What a wonderful location!! And a beautiful Casita!
