Apple Tree Cottage is situated in a quiet valley of the river Krka in Slovenia. Ideal for families and for active and relaxing holidays.
Overview
Apple Tree Cottage is situated in a quiet valley of the green river Krka (pronounced Ker-ka) in Slovenia. It offers an enviable degree of seclusion in a private orchard surrounded by fragrant grass fields. The cottage is located 10-minutes walk from Krska Vas village at the beginning of the river Krka.
The views from the cottage reach the edge of the forest behind the surrounding grassland. The oak trees in the courtyard shelter the front terrace on hot summer days. The private orchard with the garden at the back of the house inspires peaceful ambience for warm summer evenings. The property includes an organic vegetable garden with a variety of seasonal vegetables for the benefit of the guests. Two sitting areas in the front of the house and in the garden at the back offer a choice of leisure time and outdoor dining. The local villages offer a number of authentic restaurants and traditional inns. The neighbouring hills lend themselves for unspoiled walking tours, mushroom picking, and mountain biking and cycling trips.
Krka, “the green river of Dolenjska” is an admired fishing destination. The rivers streams and waterfalls attract several kayaking and canoeing enthusiasts. Instructor-led kayaking tours are available. Further downstream health spas of Dolenjske and Smarjeske Toplice offer a range health treatments and public swimming pools filled with mineral spring water.

We spent a week in the house with the kids and toured Slovenia with a rented car. The location of the villa is great as it’s easy to get everywhere from that central spot.
Also, the area is beautiful for touring around and spending some peaceful & pleasant time. The vegetables garden was great and the kids enjoyed very much using them for fetching salads every day.
Igor & Natasha were not around but their parents received us the night we came, they showed us around & explained everything we needed. They are lovely people and speak good English.
We needed to turn the heat during our stay and through skype we contacted Igor that solved the problem and was really helpful.
The internet connection was a bit slow (we needed to work on the evenings…) I think this can be improved, but on the other hand if it’s only for e-mail connection or minimal use, it can be enough.
In summery the house was great, very comfortable, clean & very well equipped for a long stay.
I’m sure that if we return to Slovenia (there is still a lot to see in this beautiful country) we will rent the apple tree villa again.

This property is a delightful cottage situated in a quiet yet accessable area of Slovenia. You will find everything you need within close proximity and yet the whole experience is wonderfully rural. Slovenia is a truly fascinating and beautiful country - almost anyone, regardless of taste, will find something here: everything you could wish to visit is within a couple of hours drive of the cottage. If you are prepared to strike out on foot, however, there is plenty to occupy you within a five or ten mile radius. You'll find the owners, Igor, Natasa and their family, helpful, polite and unobtrusive. They'll go out of their way to help but will not smother you with unwanted attention. Their cottage is clean, well-equipped and spacious. Overall, this is a highly recommended holiday let with a perfect location in a truly beautiful country.

This holiday was good value for money. Especially if you come with family or you can share the cost among 8 of you. The description of the property was accurate and we got very similar quality to what we expected. The location is beautiful and the owners were very friendly! We found the maps and guide books very helpful. The house was very well equipped. A slightly bigger dishwasher could be very welcomed! We did lots of cycling nearby. We also visited Ljubjana and Bled. It would have been nice to have a tourist map of the cottage surroundings area as the tourist path signs are not consistent enough. Maybe owners could note that to the authorities. However we would certainly recommend the cottage to a friend! Thank you!

The location of this property is as tranquil as it gets, yet is in easy reach of the main highways. The property is beautifully finished to a high standard throughout and will not dissappoint. We were impressed by the thought that had gone into providing everything you could need except some clothes to wear and some food to put in the fridge. This really is more than a `holiday cottage`, it is a spacious rural home that allows you to sample Slovenian life in supreme comfort.

May 2005."The cottage is in a great location with fantastic views... Our 2 year olds enjoyed all the toys and being able to run around. We have had a lovely holiday retreat in Krka. Apple Tree Cottage is beautiful, comfortable and everything is here that you could possibly need.". July 2005."The house has been an excellent base for day trips. We have much enjoyed the peace and quiet of this rural area. Thank you very much to Natasha, Igor and their family for giving us a taste of Slovenian life." April 2005."Apple Tree Cottage is a lovely place to stay... very family orientated with excellent facilities and kitted out to the highest standard. We recommend the use of the BBQ. For those without children an afternoon in the hammock in the orchard would have been relaxing... Congratulations! Delightful place to stay!” June 2005..
