Apartment Vasco da Gama is a large, second floor apartment - with lift access - superbly situated on the 5 Star award winning Marina de Lagos, and only a ten minute walk to Meia Praia beach. The restaurants and bars on the Marina quayside are a few minutes stroll away and a further two minutes will take you across the bridge into Lagos town centre where there are many more shops, bars and award winning restaurants to choose from. The golf courses at Palmares - voted best in Europe at the 2017 European Travel Awards - and Boavista Golf Resort are within five to ten minutes drive and the courses at Penina to the east and Parque da Floresta Golf and Leisure Resort to the west are about 25 minutes drive away. Behind the apartment (but completely out of site) is a huge supermarket, Pingo Doce, which caters for all self-catering needs and includes a deli, bakery, huge selection of fish and meats, fruit and vegetables, a cafe and also has a clothing store too.
Accommodation
Apartment Vasco da Gama is a well furnished, spacious two bedroom apartment which is reached by lift. The large open plan lounge is furnished with twin sofas, and a dining table to seat six. Both the bedrooms and the open plan living/dining room have sliding doors opening on to a large balcony, which has beautiful views over the Marina. Both bedrooms are twin bedded and the apartment has the added facility of cool and heat air conditioning in both bedrooms and living/dining area. As the units have a heating function, this makes the apartment an ideal low season base too. Satellite / new smart, interactive TV including Sky sports, movies, box sets and all UK HD channels and free WiFi are also included. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and there is also a separate shower room with toilet. Both bedrooms have large wardrobes with ample hanging, shelf and drawer space. The kitchen is well equipped with an oven, hob, 'fridge freezer and microwave. There is also an integral Zannusi washing machine provided too.
Should you require cot facilities, this can be provided locally by the management team.
Complimentary swimming pool access at the nearby Marina Club Suite Hotel (3 minute walk away) is available for up to 4 people with this apartment. A health club is also available at the Marina Club Suite Hotel, payable locally. There is also a free playground for children on the Marina.
Out & About
The cosmopolitan town of Lagos, which many believe to be the best on the Algarve, is on your doorstep. There are many beaches to choose from, the largest being the Meia Praia which stretches for 5kms round the coast to Alvor and has watersports to suit all needs; it also has surfing schools too. Praia da Batata is situated beneath the cliffs in front of the Fort in the city; Praia da Dona Ana has spectacular views of the rock formations and beautiful seas and Praia do Camilo is a small and stunning beach and is home to the very famous Restaurante O Camilo.
The Marina dominates the river as it opens into the sea and you can choose activities such as deep sea fishing, dolphin watching trips and yacht hire as well as the superb Grotto trips. Lagos is an historic town with some city walls still standing and there are several museums and churches worth a visit. This is a working Portuguese town with markets, shops and plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from. The fabulous west coast beaches, where the surfing is renowned, are only 30 minutes drive away and the Monchique hills and the historic old capital of the Algarve, Silves, is an equal distance to the East. As Apartment Vasco da Gama is so centrally situated, a car is not essential for your holiday enjoyment but to gain an appreciation of just what the Western Algarve can offer, a car is recommended.

My wife and I stayed for just over a week. The apartment was extremely comfortable and in a great spot. It had everything we needed and the arrangements for arriving and departing couldn’t have been easier. We visit Lagos frequently and hope to stay here again..

We stayed at the apartment for 5+ weeks over January / February 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The apartment is clean, functional and is in an ideal spot on the Marina - quieter, but within striking distance of the restaurants and marinas and onwards into town. Highly recommended!

Our first time in Portugal, just returned from 10 nights in the apartment, it’s very spacious and clean. The view is beautiful, location is perfect, for access to beachfront, swimming pool, local supermarket, bars, restaurants/night life with no hassle and security regularly patrolling. Having a washing machine meant was little to do on return. Internet and tv package is fab if you need. Great communication with the owner and those managing. I will definitely recommend to others and hope to return in the future.

We have just come back from another fantastic trip to Lagos. As long term visitors to the area, the location of the apartment was perfect; close to the Marina and all the facilities it has to offer, ditto beach and town. The apartment was very clean, well kitted out, with perfect views. The entertainment package and WiFi were excellent; especially for our teenage boys. There were two things that I felt could be improved on. Firstly, the showers. In the main bathroom; there was a shower cubicle but only hand held shower head (really should have been affixed to the wall) and also in the en-suite, while the shower head was fixed to the wall; the water was so powerful (a plus!), that it jumped off the wall and everywhere got soaked. Small changes can fix these. And if I'm being really picky, the table on the balcony was quite rusted - probably needs an upgrade. However, would certainly stay there again and equally would recommend it. Thank you!

The apartment and area is very nice with some lovely areas to eat along the promenade. The old town is only a 10 minute walk and is lively at night. Very family and couple orientated area which is nice. Would recommend this apartment in Lagos mariner.

The location is superb - lovely views, large veranda, and full sun in the morning

Spotlessly clean and the meet and greet was excellent
on the down side:
Apartment furnishings are basic and functional (but don't expect any luxury or home comforts)
The TV is minute and there is no CD player
The Bathrooms do not have windows
