This property situated as it is in a small hamlet of 8 dwellings allows the guests to experience the true and authentic taste of Portugal. And although the cottage is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of everyday living, you will find you are never far away from the essential commodities of daily living. The lively market town of Arganil is a 15 minute drive away giving you access to a hospital ,banks, full sized supermarkets including Lidl, Inter Marche, among others. There are cafes,, restaurants by the river, boutique shopping and a marvellous open air market every Thursday. During the summer months the beautiful reconstructed pedestrianised square plays host to wonderful local plays and recitals as well as visiting artists.
The city of Coimbra is a 30 minute drive from your retreat, where you will find a very modern city blended beautifully with stunning architecture of the 15th century onwards. Here is a very cosmopolitan city awakening from its slumber as the former Capital city of Portugal rediscovers itself. The city boasts 2 major shopping centres either side of the river that traverses through this university city/ complete with an ultra modern teaching hospital. The stunning architecture, the wonderful shopping, and the café culture is sure to please the most discerning tourist.
The cottage which is tucked away in the hamlet of Adelia Nova, has 3 double bedrooms, one of which has a full ensuite consisting of toilet, bidet, hand basin and a wet room style shower. The other 2 bedrooms are serviced by a bathroom consisting of toilet, bidet, hand basin and a full sized bath with hand held shower.
The expansive living room / Kitchen is a wonderful open space with a fully fitted kitchen of Cedar wood cupboards and marble countertops. There is a fridge with ice box, 4 ring cooker with full oven, and washing machine, a large dining table and chairs complete your needs in this area. The log burning fire lit or unlit becomes a focal point where there are easy chairs to sit and enjoy a good book or watch the TV. Off this room there is a large balcony with further seating to enjoy the stunning views over the valley and down to the river Alva renowned for its wonderful fishing stocks.
