Luxury 5 Bedroom Villa Century, Algarve, Portugal

2 rooms air con not working, they came out to check but still didn’t work .

Annexe bedrooms , beds unbearably uncomfortable for ageing adults, probably be ok for young people.

Swimming pool and area very nice , sun loungers, very comfy.

Small suggestion: to put a fence and gate on the step near bbq to provide front area with a safe space for small children (away from the pool).

Great base for the strip , beach and lots of other amenities.

Having stayed at the same villa 3 yrs ago I was a little disappointed at some of the furnishings and the lack of communication with the agent about problems I had during my stay. When we first arrived there was still drinks on the table outside by the pool and two vodka bottles on the floor. At first we couldn’t get into the safe as it had been closed and the sellotape holding the battery’s in had come unstuck. After 3 days we finally got to secure our passports etc!! The air con in the main bedroom did not work and after two phone calls to the agent no one still came out during our two week stay. On the plus side the beds around the pool have been upgraded since my last visit and are very good. As is the dining room table/chairs. I think some electrical work has also been upgraded as last time the power did “trip” a few times but this time we had no problems. Overall this is a spacious villa but is in need of a little TLC. Considering the amount it cost.

We stayed for my friends hen do in May 2019.

The villa was perfect for our medium sized group, we had loads of space and could of happily brought along a few more.

The pool and outdoor area is really lovely, the sun beds are very comfortable.

Inside was much the same story. The lovely large dining table was perfect. One down point, the small annex can smell a bit musty and needs some airing, and the single beds in the main house were rock hard mattresses, but not much else to complain about.

The villa is only a short walk from the strip, with shops bars and nightlife.

I would absolutely stay here again for a similar occasion.

My family of 10 stayed at villa century for a week in October. The villa was a great base if you want to hit the strip (5 minute walk) and about 6 mins in a taxi to the old town. The villa was lovely and spacious but some areas are tired and in need a makeover but overall we had a relaxing time.

We didn't end up staying at this villa as two weeks before we was due to go we was told that there was an issue and they couldn't make it safe for us in time, so they were moving us to Villa Collum, which was five minutes from Villa Century. I was assured by the owners (Columbia Estates in Jersey) that I would not be disappointed and was directed to Property reference 63850, to view the villa. All looked ok but I was still very disappointed as this was not my choice of villa but we didn't really have any choice. Well, disappointment was not the only thing we faced upon arrival, so here we go................. The outside pictures are completely false as they look nothing like how the villa looks today; there is cheap plastic sunbeds, a plastic patio table ( not the Rattan Furniture in the pictures) and no outside shower, lawn area or lovely big BBQ. Incorrect inside description as follows:- Only one bedroom with double bed, no open fire, no CD player, no DVD player and decor completely different. Defects:- smell of damp and mould when entering the villa, dangerous exposed tile on the edge of one of the stairs and severe mould and mildew in two of the bedrooms, bathroom and especially the wardrobe. The area was very noisy and dirty, as we were on one of the main runs to "The Strip" and we even had glass bottles and a kebab thrown over our fence that landed in the pool, there was also broken glass everywhere and the smell of urine was disgusting. We decided to go and have a look at Villa Century and was expecting to see it empty, but of course it wasn't, so they had obviously told me a bunch of lies about being unsafe as there was a family in there with children! However, on a plus point, the maintenance side in Portugal, was excellent as they did respond and deal with the issues very quickly and did come eventually to take care of the mould, even though the chemical smell was just as bad for a few days. The Owners (Columbia Estates) should be held responsible for misrepresentation as they are falsely advertising pictures of properties that are not current pictures as we was told that Villa Collum was changed from a 5 bedroom to a six bedroom over three years ago.

We stayed at Villa Century for my friends hen party and could not fault it for what we needed, I have seen some negative comments regarding facilities etc. stating the sun beds were old and worn and there was a small crack to one of the floor tiles - no it's not 5 star luxury so don't going if you are expecting this; but the rooms were spacious, clean, everything (if not brand new) was in good working order, towels / hairdryers etc. were supplied and we were close enough to bars / restaurant's etc. but tucked away from all of the hustle and bustle, the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to help, they also arranged a mini bus to and from airport and into the old town which was very helpful, the pool was a lovely size and perfect for the 10 people that stayed, would recommended for anyone wanting this for a hen party or group booking.
