Overview
Overlooking the horizon from Villa Le Cannicelle it seems you could literally fly over the sea. The villa is perched on the highest point of Villammare, almost directly above the beach. As you enter the front gate you are utterly rewarded with magnificent views of the coast of Southern Italy and from this natural terrace there is nearly half of Italy opening to your eyes.
The villa is a modern, three-storey villa built in a traditional style, set 124 feet above sea level with stunning views stretching for miles along the coast.
It is comfortably furnished in a contemporary style and each level is self-contained making it ideal for larger groups. Outside there is ample space for everyone to come together and enjoy the stunning sea views from one of the many terraces, lounge in the shade of a huge Mediterranean oak tree, soak up the sun around the infinity swimming pool, or enjoy a meal on the rustic "taverna" dining terrace.
The entire accommodation has light, bright and airy atmospheres and is furnished in original and elegant taste. It is the ideal solution for family and friends holidays at the beach in Italy. It gives opportunities to share holiday time with your loved ones as well as keeping your own privacy when needed.
It is directly managed by the owners with great care and positioned on a dominant panoramic hillside facing the sea, just 700 meters from "Villammare" long sandy beach. The villa commands a spectacular Mediterranean vista - views stretching down to the farthest mountains of the Calabria region on one side and as far as the Punta Infreschi and the wild coastal stretch bearing the same name between Scario and Marina di Camerota on the other side. Two thirds of the estate is covered with lush woodland and cork oak, a plant typical of the environmental niche stretching along the coastline of the Bay of Policastro between Santa Marina and Sapri. Surrounded by a big enclosed garden, it is the perfect accommodation for families with children.
Villa Le Cannicelle is extremely spacious and well equipped with many terraces where to relax, sipping a glass of wine, and soak in the views before dining together on the wonderful covered "taverna" terrace with its traditional Italian style wood-fired pizza oven and barbecue. The villa features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning sea views while in the pool. A little piece of paradise for families and friends wishing to escape their busy city lives and experiencing the authentic Italian "dolce vita" and a truly memorable villa holiday at the beach.
The "marina" of Villammare is less than 1 mile therefore you could go there walking but car is recommended because the last part of the road to the villa is steep (that's the reason why the villa has such enjoyable views!). Villammare is lively at summer and there are bars, chalets, and shops. It is not a place spoiled by massive tourism and you will find a friendly athmosphere all around and an autentic glimpse of Italy. Restaurants in the surroundings as well as "trattorie" and "pizzerie" offer very good fish, seafood and delicious local cuisine.
Moreover the Villa is in the "National Park of Cilento" (UNESCO world heritage site) therefore you could have lots of excursions in evocative natural and historical place, whether to the mountains or to the sea.
Private skippered boat can be arranged on request for tours to Sapri, Palinuro, Porto Infreschi, Acquafredda, Scario or Maratea beaches where you can watch the sunset or visit some of the many natural sea caves with their mesmerizing, colorful reflections. These are holiday memories to treasure for a lifetime.
Daily tours to Napoli, Pompei, Herculaneum, Matera are highly recommended. During summer months you could also reach the Amalfi Coast, Positano, Sorrento and the island of Capri by hydrofoil from Sapri harbour – the perfect way to enjoy a day or two on the Amalfi coast without staying in the tourist hustle and bustle!

The place was absolutely beautiful even better than the pictures. You have all the privacy you want as the place is very well layed out and organized. Marzio is a fantastic host. He is hospitable, friendly with great tips about the area. Yet he leaves you all the space you need and you have your privacy. You will be looked after by Maria and she will cater for all your wishes with a beautiful smile. She is a treasure. Simply said the place is a gem with gems of hosts. Thank for a lovely stay!
This is the most beautiful location we have stayed at, it is a stunning property and a destination in itself. The facilities are top class, every detail has been considered, the views are beautiful and the host was fabulous. (If anything I would say the photos don’t show the true beauty of the property and the views, as they are exceptional) Marzio was such a fantastic hosts and couldn’t of made our stay any better. I would highly recommend this property as it is a little piece of paradise. ♥️♥️♥️
Wow, what a find! You need to come to believe view from house, pool & garden: calm bay enclosed by majestic silhouetted mountains. You never tire of it. House spotlessly clean, luxuriously furnished, every detail thought of. Kitchen has every item you could need. Cool drinks in large fridge on arrival, so much espresso, & lovely bottle of Prosecco & red wine. Outdoor pool is spotlessly clean & lovely size for family to enjoy; lots of sun-loungers, parasols, inflatables & pool toys for everyone. Marzio gave detailed guided tour & instructions on arrival, & advice on local restaurants, supermarkets & sites. Always contactable by phone for queries. Maria cleaned amazingly every morning. 1 of us uses wheelchair, so Marzio & Maria had built wooden ramps for all steps (Grazie mille!); outdoor shower with plastic seat was perfect. What a fantastic week!
Wow — where to even begin? We absolutely loved our week spent at Marzio’s villa. It was everything we wanted it to be and more. For some background, we arrived to a different Airbnb in a nearby town and quickly realized that it wouldn’t be suitable for our 9 month old baby traveling with us. We wanted a place that we also felt we could relax at in the mornings and evenings between exploring the region, and Marzio saved us last minute and provided exactly that. The villa has a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and the perfectly blue sea. You can take in this view every morning from your personal terrace, or each afternoon while having a swim in the large infinity pool. Either way, you will find it very difficult to leave! Marzio and Maria quickly became like family. They made us feel right at home and took care of us and our baby like they’ve always known us. We just arrived home, and are already planning our return! You won’t regret staying.
Marzio is a wonderful host and his villa is magnificent. It is better than expected and my expectations were high based on the photos, reviews and description. From the moment you book till the moment you leave Marzio is there to answer questions and to give advice for your stay in this incredible area of Italy which has clear-blue-water beaches and is not too crowded! The details: Kitchen has everything you would need as does the outdoor kitchen; the beds were comfortable, linens nice; the A/Cs are new and worked well except for the kitchen which has a wonderful breeze; the pool is very clean and a salt water pool-a nice surprise! Maria is there everyday to tidy-up the pool area, the outdoor kitchen and is willing to clean the inside if you would like for her to do so. The villa kept on giving from the fruit trees to the aloe plant for quick relief from our stinging sunburns. We will be back! Thank you Marzio, Antonietta and Maria for a magical stay with wonderful host.
Beautiful, quiet, immaculate, airy, spacious, and well-appointed. There are not enough positive adjectives to describe this remarkable Villa. The view is stupendous. The pool is perfect. The house, the outdoor kitchen, the pizza oven, the terraces, the beautiful interior...Best. Place. Ever. I haven't even gotten to the best part--the wonderful host. Marzio is one-of-a-kind. He is kind, thoughtful, informative, generous, attentive, and wonderful to interact with. I only hope that we can strive to be as good at being guests as he is at being a host. I hope, pray, and dream that we can return here again and again and again.
Our stay at this wonderful villa was one of the best holidays we have had. The villa's situation means you have panoramic views of the sea and the mountains. The host is very attentive and has made a map to make getting to all the recommended sights very straight forward. He looks after his guests very well with lots of restaurant recommendations and things to do. The pool is wonderful and has a spectacular view too. We could not recommend Villa Le Cannicelle highly enough.
Photos don’t do it justice! Stunning location, home, and host! The host made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. This is the sort of place you want to tell everyone about, but also keep to yourself so there’s availability for booking
This Villa is nothing short of perfect! It is in a picture postcard location, far from the maddening crowds, is completely restored with the modern conveniences and old world charm. The hosts make you feel like you are with family! Seriously, the host and his family are spectacular hosts… taking care of every little thing. We couldn’t find even one small thing that we would change. Even the kitchen was perfect… the bucolic location is amazing, close to town yet far enough to be a quiet country setting. The level of details taken care of is a testament to the owners willingness to please guests, and they did! It was a perfect few days… next time (hopefully soon) we will stay longer.
Marzio is an incredible host - kind, attentive, responsive and as a result my extended family spanning 3 generations experienced an incredible holiday at Villa Le Cannicelle. Thanks to Marzio we enjoyed fantastic meals at some of the best local restaurants; experienced some fantastic trips including a memorable day cruising the beautiful coastline by boat. Nothing was too much trouble and the lovely housekeeper Maria also deserves a mention for keeping everything so clean and tidy during our week. I'm so glad we ventured slightly further afield to experience a truly unspoilt part of Southern Italy. Absolutely faultless.
AMAZING - wonderful host, the most incredible pool and view, immaculate, clean and perfectly equipped accommodation. We booked with the host very last minute as our booked accommodation was cancelled - we fell on our feet as he is the most incredible host who looked after us so well. We had our 8 month old baby with us and his family were so welcoming and accommodating, picking us up from the train station and taking us to the supermarket, playing with our little girl in the pool and just generally going above and beyond. The villa is up a steep hill and as advised in the description your stay is much easier with a car and the area needs to be explored to its full potential. However even though we didn’t have one we still enjoyed our stay walking to the village for lunch once and just enjoying the pool/garden/balcony and really relaxing for the four days we were there. Cannot recommend this place enough, not only is the accommodation incredible but the host is one of the kindest, most excellent hosts you could ever ask for.
Wow - what a fabulous vacation home. We enjoyed every bit of our week here. Thanks to the chef for wonderful dinners and Maria for keeping us fresh.
Villa Le Cannicelle is so special, we all had a wonderful and memorable stay. The kindness of our host and his team of helpers added to the experience. We loved everything about our stay and will be back one day! Grazie!
The villa is wonderful. A fantastic location with sea views and private surrounds. Marzio our host made sure all our needs were fully met. Gardens pretty with apricot orchards set against blue sea vistas. The pool was hard to clamber out of. Perfect temperature (June) Equally the nearby sea was so clean and clear and delicious to swim in. Heavenly. Diversity of activities in this area. Cilento national park has stunning mountain scenery tumbling down to the sea. Hiking to waterfalls. Boat trips. One of the best family holidays we have ever had.
We spent a week at Le Cannicelle in August 2018 for a family reunion and holiday. We were 5 adults and 5 children (aged 6 to 15). We had an amazing week at Le Cannicelle - one that we will remember forever! The Villa is a gorgeous 3 floor structure and we rented the entire villa. On the first floor (or ground) are 3 bedrooms (one facing the sea, and the other two facing inwards), a large living and dining space, 2 full bathrooms and a nice spacious kitchen. There are two doors that open up to a covered patio that looks over some lovely flowers and out down over the sea. There is also an outdoor dining area and then at a lower level a complete outdoor kitchen. The 2nd floor has a contained 1 bedroom unit with its own living room (with a sofa bed), kitchen, dining area and a bathroom - and the 3rd floor is also another independent bedroom unit (smaller than 2nd floor) but also with a small outdoor patio. The villa is luxurious and comes with a housekeeper who shows up every day from 9am to 1pm (except Thursdays). This is a huge help as it kept the villa clean and many chores done allowing us to spend more time with our families. From my earliest interactions with Marzio (the owner) I felt just incredibly comfortable in speaking to him. He is a genuinely caring person who goes out of his ways to ensure that his guests have an amazing time and he is always accessible (we had him on whatsapp). He went above and beyond to make the house comfortable and accessible for each of our family members. The villa has the most stunning views from all floors looking out towards the hills further south and out into the beautiful sea. The pool is incredibly well kept and we spent at least 3 days lounging by the pool. There is plenty to do (boat excursions, beaches, driving to nearby villages or further out to Pompeii or Naples) or not do and just chill at Villamare. It is a little out of the way - but we loved that as it allowed us to experience a part of Italy that most foreign tourists never get to. The people of Villamare and surrounding villages are incredibly friendly even though they may not speak much English. The food and wine is amazing. -Marzio connected us to a chef who came and cooked many delicious 3 course meals for us. Upon our return I asked one of our 9 year old twins what was his favorite part of his stay at the villa, and he responded "Everything!". Yes, we all agree. Thanks Marzio for an unforgettable family reunion.
My family recently spent a fantastic 11 days in Villammare. Upon arrival at the villa after a long journey we were met by Marzio the owner who was the perfect host during our stay attending to our every need, providing great insight to the area and places of interest. The service level of the staff was excellent during our entire stay going above and beyond. The villa itself was well presented and furnished throughout, the alfresco dining was a fantastic experience, everything including the private pool was maintained to an exceptional standard. A car is certainly recommended to explore the surrounding area. We would recommend this villa to anyone else and will hopefully return in the future.
The villa has a spectacular view overlooking the Bay of Policastro and Cape Infreschi. All people involved were extremely helpful. The villa was very nice, even better than expected. Very well presented with everything you need for an extremely comfortable stay, the views are unbeatable, and we really enjoy the area which is about a 3 minute drive from the center of Villammare and within walking distance from a long natural beach area. Our thanks to Marzio and his team for a memorable holiday.
The villa is a perfect location from which to explore the National Park of Cilento and the historically significant surroundings (Paestum, Capri and Pompeii are a bit more distant but within easy reach) . The property is extremely well presented and is perfect for a group of friends or larger family. Each of the three apartments within the villa provides self-contained facilities whilst maintaining ample space for up to twelve to eat and socialise together. The villa has been furnished in a simple but tasteful fashion with high quality fittings throughout. The views from the property are spectacular and uninterrupted by other properties. Villammare with bars, restaurants and long stretches of beaches is a few minutes’ drive away and Sapri is a further 10+ minutes drive away down the coast and offers a wider range of shops and restaurants and has a station which is useful for exploring the region without having to drive. The property is owned and operated by Marzio and he, along with his staff, with their attention to detail and local knowledge, contributed significantly to our enjoyment of the property and the surrounding area. He personally greets his guests and explains how to make the best of the villa, making the day of arrival relaxed and stress free. An example of Marzio's attention to detail is the map of the local area that is available (specially drawn for him by a local artist) which detail each of the places and activities that can be enjoyed during your stay including how long it takes to get there. Altogether a fantastic location and property and we highly recommend it!
"Once again a great stay at Le Cannicelle. Enjoyable BBQ at the villas outdoor kitchen, great food also in nearby restaurants. And the atmosphere in village Villammare is always relaxed and friendly, not spoiled by too many tourists."
Le Cannicelle was a perfect choice for us. Several friends from Rome and I shared the entire house for 2 weeks and we couldn't have been happier. The house is lovely, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The photos don't do the decor of the first floor justice. It's even more elegant than the pictures. And the kitchen is a dream. The location is breathtaking, the garden stunning, the pool is perfect, etc. Marzio's care and love for the property is in evidence everywhere. And the housekeeper, Anna, is an absolute marvel. We loved being able to invite our friends to stay in the apartments upstairs. It's really the perfect situation for guests; we got to eat together and spend the day together but whenever we or our guests wanted it, there was always privacy to be found. We also fell in love the the Basso Cilento. Villammare is tiny but has two wonderful restaurants. We rented a boat a couple of times to explore Punta degli Infreschi and Cala Bianca and both days were unforgettable. We love the house and can't wait to go back.
This is the second time we spend our holiday at Villa le Cannicelle. Once during the summer period in 2014 and now during autumn with a group of 9 people and we used all floors. Both our holidays were unforgetable. We were warmly welcomed by the owner, which made us feel at home immediately and during our stay he helped us with any question we had. The house is fully equipped and lives up to every expectation you might have. The beds are good, the kitchen has everything you need for a big family and washing machine is available. The kids loved the pool. There are terraces all around the house to enjoy the sun all day whilst the views are spectacular! We enjoyed the outside kitchen with bbq and pizza oven, stayed outside late on the covered terrace even in our autumn holiday. The house and grounds are very well looked after with a lot of love and eye for detail. The housekeeper will come in every day, a great luxury and a lovely person. There is lot to do around Villamare, the beach, a boattrip but also cultural visits like Peastum. Both times we returned home feeling a little sad to leave this wonderful place, but promissing to come back....
"The villa provided an excellent setting for a relaxed family vacation. The property was very well maintained and had a beautiful quiet location, yet within walking distance from the beach, shops and restaurants."

Me and my sister Antonietta own this spectacular villa in Villammare. Following a huge passion for hospitality, some years ago at this family jewel we decided to open the door to the international quality tourism. Since 2005 so many families from all over the world have chosen Villa Le Cannicelle as location for their family and friends holidays at the beach in Italy. Many of them are keep gathering to the villa along the years for their holiday reunions. Their children feel like home and, when summer arrives, they can't wait to jump again into our beautiful sea view swimming pool. We saw them growing up along the years and some of them can now even speak Italian a little bit. What a great joy for us! As property owners what we care most is hospitality and our dedication to an excellent service in our role. If you are planning a charming family reunion in Italy please don't hesitate to contact us. As our guests like to say: "The 'dolce vita' is here!".
