Overview
Casa Dorotea is a spacious and elegant apartment situated in a tranquil area but only a few minutes from local amenities and public transport. Casa Dorotea is approximately 180 metres squared and can sleep up to 7 people in 3 bedrooms. It features a private garden, a private terrace, a private patio, air conditioning and winter heating and Wi-Fi Internet access. The cost of the electricity is included in the price.
Casa Dorotea is located on the first floor and is one of three apartments in the block. It is accessible from the garden via an external staircase with approximately 20 steps. There is air conditioning in all three bedrooms and also throughout the house - the lounge and dining area - which is new for 2024.
The lounge is paved with characteristic terracotta tiles. The modern furnishings are stylish and comfortable. There are two large sofas and a satellite television and air conditioning. An extra bed can be added in the lounge (on request and extra charges may apply). The room has two windows with a view of the garden and the terrace. The dining room is accessible from the lounge room and has a dining table, which can accommodate 6 guests, and air conditioning.
Leading off the dining room is the recently refurbished kitchen. It is well equipped with a four-burner gas cooker, an electric oven, a refrigerator with a freezer, a dishwasher and an Italian-style coffee maker and air conditioning. The kitchen has a window with a view of the garden. Next to the kitchen, there is a small, partially covered terrace where there is a washing machine.
You can access the beautiful ensuite bedroom from the living room. The bedroom has a double bed (160 cm/62 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). The room has a window with a view of the private patio below the villa and a private garden with homegrown vegetables. The bedroom is equipped with a TV and air conditioning/heating. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, equipped with a washbasin, a flat-screen TV, a toilet and a bathtub with shower and a Jacuzzi. You can even watch the television whilst you enjoy a hydro-massage!
You can access the second bedroom from the corridor. It has twin beds (80 cm/32 inches) and a view of the garden. The bedroom is equipped with a flat-screen TV and air conditioning/heating. The bathroom has a washbasin, a toilet, a fully enclosed shower and a hairdryer. It is accessible from the corridor. There is a French window which gives access to the terrace, facing the garden.
The terrace is 40 metres squared and is accessible from the lounge through sliding French doors. It is equipped with a table, chairs, sun loungers and a BBQ. From the terrace, you will have a view of the garden below and of the other buildings in the surrounding area but you will have your own privacy. Here you can relax with a drink and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
There is a third bathroom with a wash basin and a toilet. At the end of the corridor, there is a third bedroom, which also has a view of the garden. This is a double room but the beds can be separate to make it a twin. The bedroom is equipped with a flat-screen TV and air conditioning/heating.
The private garden is 400 metres squared and is partly shaded by tall palm and lemon trees. It has a hammock and sun loungers where you can relax and enjoy the sunshine. Next to the garden is the private patio which is furnished with tables and chairs and covered to provide shade.
While staying at Casa Dorotea, you will be in the seventeenth-century historic centre of Meta di Sorrento. The closest restaurant and a grocery store are a few minutes' walk away. Casa Dorotea is approximately 5 minutes' walk from the train station where, in two stops, you will be in Sorrento. From this station, you can also easily visit Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples. From Sorrento's train station, it is approximately 15 minutes' walk to Marina Piccola (port) where you can get the ferry to Capri. From Sorrento's train station you can also get buses to Positano and Amalfi Coast. The closest beach is roughly 800 metres (half a mile) from Casa Dorotea.
You will not need a car to stay at Casa Dorotea but if you do have one, you can park it free of charge (on request) a few minutes’ walk away.

We ( 5 adults) had a week stay. Generally the apartment is luxurious and very comfortable but the 4 bathrooms in the advert is incorrect. There is a luxurious en-suite ( jacuzzi out of action for our stay), a shared shower room/WC and a toilet/WC. The study etc is not available for use and the WI-FI very limited. Satellite TV in the living room was limited to news channels, no loss to us though. The remaining TVs were Italian channels only.The terrace was beautiful with the surrounding orange, fig and lemon trees but unfortunately the BBQ mentioned was not present. The location is as others have described very quiet (except for early morning dogs), shops are easily reached on the main road as is the station and bus stop, so access to Sorrento or Naples/Pompeii/Ercolano very easy and cheap. We did not find any local restaurants available apart from at the beach which is 1500m not 500m and a very steep road or staircase at the end. The property would greatly benefit with some written details so operation of the gas oven and hob and the microwave would have been easy without having to contact Dorotea, who did quickly help us. The kitchen is well equipped but with limited cooking utensils, an extra benefit not expected was the washing machine. The holiday was a success but in the points mentioned the apartment did not live up to expectations.

We were a family of myself, husband, brother and sister-in-law all 50+.
This apartment is absolutely stunning, the pictures are very accurate. Huge, clean, well equipped rooms in quiet surroundings. Would have preferred a few more shops, bars, restaurants locally, but the peace and quiet was lovely. Meta train station is less than a five minute walk from the apartment and will take you to Sorrento in minutes and in the other direction, to Pompeii, Naples etc., very easy and cheap travelling.
Covent Garden bar and restaurant is only a few minutes walk away and they do great food, very reasonably priced.
Carmine the management of the apartment, was very helpful, he arranged a private minibus with Joe Banana Limos, to do a day tour around the Amalfi coast, well worth the money, dont miss out on this. Transfers to and from the apartment were also with Joe Banana Limos, very good service.
Dorotea the owner of the apartment, was wonderful and visited a few times to check all was ok and to give advise on the local area. She also picked some vegetables from her garden and gave to us. She even came to the apartment and 5am on the morning of our departure, to bid us farwell !!!
All in all a beautiful apartment, well managed and a delight to live in for two weeks. Would highly recommend.

The hospitality at Casa Dorotea is truly exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my stay was memorable. From providing insightful local recommendations to organizing personalized excursions, their commitment to guest satisfaction was evident throughout. One of the highlights of or stay was the delectable cuisine offered by Dorotea's husband, Franco. He served mouthwatering Italian dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The meal was a culinary delight, and the dining experience was elevated by the picturesque environment.
WOW! It is the best word to describe this house! Everything was as beautiful as the photos and more. Lorenza and her daughter were kind and helpful and we wished we could have booked a longer stay. You will not be disappointed! If we had stayed longer we would have definitely booked a dining experience or a cooking class. This house will be my inspiration to return to this area of Italy, hopefully very soon. Thank you for sharing this wonderful home with us !!
"Beautiful apartment" Our family of five stayed in this beautiful apartment. The house was exactly what we needed for our 10 days stay in Italy. It was very easy to take the train to Sorrento and we also rented a car and drove down the Amalfi Coast and up to Rome. There is very affordable and convenient parking just around the corner. After our days of sightseeing, we enjoyed cooking at the apartment and sitting on the amazing veranda surrounded by orange trees. The owner was a wonderful hostess and we would highly recommend this apartment.
"Beautiful Property" We were a party of 2 families, 6 adults total. Casa Dorotea in Meta di Sorrento was the last stop of our 2 week Italy tour. We wish we had more time to enjoy the property and the beautiful Amalfi Coast area. We booked this stay with Alfonso Massa. He is a gentleman and a professional. From the very beginning, he was helpful, courteous, and hospitable. Communicating with him was easy. We found him to be very responsive and informative. The villa is beautiful, clean, and spacious. The on-line pictures are accurate. The kitchen had adequate cooking items such as pots, pans, coffee maker, etc. However, we wish there were outdoor cooking facilities or a grille. The villa is within walking distance to town, the beach, grocery stores, and the train/bus. It was easy for us to catch a train to Sorrento for a day cruise of the Amalfi Coast. We would highly recommend Ristorante Pizzeria Tasso in Sorrento - ask for Tony. We also enjoyed Tico Tico, excellent food and views.
"Amazing holiday" We are a family of four and very much enjoyed our stay in this very well appointed apartment. The terrace in particular is beautiful and a natural focus for meals or just sitting and enjoying the view. The old cobbled streets are narrow and there is no car parking directly at the apartment, but there is a (pay) car park a short distance away. The train station is a 5 minute walk away and a short hop to Sorrento making it easy to go in for the evening - there are few restaurants in Meta. The agent, Carmine organised a private boat trip for us to Capri, which was a highlight and also a day tour to the Amalfi coast. Pompei is 20 minutes on the train. Meta beach gets very busy in high season, it is clean but dark, volcanic sand, the water is clear and warm but shelves away quickly. You pay to enter the beach area. We found Meta a good base to explore from, and the apartment a very comfortable home from home.
