This beautifully restored 200-year-old and 300m2 villa sits on a very big plot in the heart of the delightful village of Kefalas, regarded as one of the most beautiful in The Apokoronas region of Western Crete.
The spacious villa is reached via a short lane with, access through double metal gates into a large private and walled front courtyard. This is, fully paved, with mature fruit trees, shrubs and local plants, stone walls and space for five cars to park away from the lane. On entering the villa, you are struck by how spacious and open it feels.
The lounge has, a stone featured open fire place, wooden floors and traditional high Cretan ceilings with full beams. The second section of the lounge houses a grand piano and two stone arches, leading to a large and fully equipped modern kitchen-diner. There are fully fitted appliances, a large L shaped open breakfast bar and preparation area, marble tiled work tops, and a dining table for up to 10 people overlooking the garden through a splendid fan shaped window. Double wooden doors lead from the dining area to the rear gardens.
On the ground floor, a hall leads from the lounge to two bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other a mezzanine split room with two single beds plus one on the mezzanine). There is also a large modern bathroom on this floor, with a large walk-in shower. An impressive open wooden stair case leads up to the first floor. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms. The master bedroom has high vaulted wooden ceilings, full length beams and storage. Wooden windows overlook both the extensive rear gardens and front courtyard. The other bedroom contains two single beds. Also on this floor is another modern bathroom, consistent in style with the downstairs bathroom but with a bath and overhead shower.
There is an upper terrace which can be accessed from the upstairs hallway, via double wooden doors. The terrace has outside seating and benefits from astonishing sea and mountain views.
The extensive “botanical” rear gardens have stone seating areas, and small courtyards to sit and enjoy the mature fruit trees, shrubs, plants and colorful flowers. The well-stocked garden includes an olive tree believed to be even older than the house. Towards the end there is a large kidney shaped swimming pool surrounded by paving, and sunbeds. The whole garden has lighting, seating, and exudes tranquility. It enjoys fantastic views towards the Souda Bay, and is surrounded by a stone wall to ensure maximum privacy.
The property is close to the nearby kafenions , two Ttavernas and two supermarkets. The villa is also a short drive from the local beaches at Almyrida, Kalyves and Georgioupolis. The nearby National Road provides easy access to the international airports and ferry port to mainland Greece and many other islands.

Paraskevas is a great host- was there to greet us and came over when ever we needed something. Helped us with personal issues and always with a smile.
I cannot recommend this highly enough. The house is a beautiful, tranquil haven and Paraskevas is a great host who recommended beaches, restaurants and boat trips, which we enjoyed so much. Kefalas is charming, too. There are some narrow roads nearby so probably best for a confident driver in a smallish car!
Un petit coin de paradis 10 L’authenticité de la maison, son charme, le calme, le jardin et la disponibilité de la personne pour la moindre question ou soucis ( que nous n’avons pas eu !)
Highly recommended! 10 The villa is really charming. You can find there anything you need up to 9 person - 2 bathrooms, huge living room, very good equipped kitchen, 4 bedrooms, large garden with a nice swimming pool. It gives you as well a lot of privacy during the stay (no neighbours around). The host is very helpful and will give you a lot hints what to do during your holidays (including the best tavernas around).
