Stoneworld

Beach farm house with 1 bedroom in Ikaria, Greece

From €502 per week

A traditional, stony house in a small village on the mountains. The house is surrounded by field with great view to the mountains and to the sea.

Overview

A small and valuable house in a small and valuable village. Far away from any exhausting rythm of life. Ideal for person who wish to escape from crowed cities, stressful jobs and any trouble they might have.

First, is the house: a traditional Ikarian one, made by stones where the guest can live like people were used to live some decades ago. No TV, no Internet access, no air conditioning, cooking on a gas cylinder. The bathroom is in a different small building next to the house.

Second, is the natural environment around the house and the village. You can walk on the footpaths of the area and enjoy the great view to the mountains and to the sea. People living in the village are less than ten in the winter and more than thirty in August. Droutsoulas is 4,5-5Km away from the national road of Ikaria and the nearest beaches and 6-6,5Km away from the town and port of Evdilos. Walking down the footpath from the village of Droutsoulas to the coast in a distance of 3Km approximatelly is always a special experience.

Significant note: the house is suitable only to a couple or to a small family(1-2 children)

Stylianos’s house in Droutsoulas is amazing! There are several beautiful outdoor seating areas with lovely gardens. Stylianos left us fruit and vegetables and told us to eat anything in the garden. There is a cute little square and there are amazing views of the mountains and you can see Koskinas Castle. We met really sweet neighbors who invited us for dinner. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who loves nature, quiet, and doesn’t mind driving up some crazy roads :)

If you are looking to a quiet place where you can be totally in contact with nature Stylianos' home is the right choice. After few days we felt there at home, so is recommended! Just be careful with the road to get there, a bit adventurous ;)

The house is great, a comfortable place with amazing views! There's everything you need inside, even for the cold nights of the winter. Also, there are amazing places to sit outside, enjoy the sun and relax! Truly beautiful! :)

Ein gemütliches traditionelles Steinhaus in einer wunderbaren Umgebung, abgelegen, ruhig, naturnah mit phantastischem Ausblick und sehr viel Platz.

We stayed there as a couple for about three weeks. It's a traditional house, built in the 19th century, in the middle of an old village with a winter population of currently around ten people. Lots of interesting flora and fauna around, it overlooks another old, now derelict, village (with interesting ties to recent greek history) and is overlooked by a distant byzantine castle from the 10th century - be sure to have a greek-speaking person around and time to spend with the kind neighbors to learn about local history and customs first-hand. Droútsoulas is located in the middle of the island, which is perfect if you want to discover as much of Ikaría as you can. You will definitely need a car to move around, and, depending on the season, probably something warmer to wear in the night, since the village is at an altitude of over 400 meters. As described, the facilities were meager: you can't cook mousaka with a single gas burner or wash a ten-suitcase garderobe with a small washing machine or keep the place spick and span with a broom and a dustpan alone, so be prepared for a simple style of living. Personal favorite: in addition to all the ancient, medieval and bucolic sites on the island, we found a genuine and very well preserved monument to the teenager greek eighties right in the bedroom. If you like medieval roleplaying games where you save princesses from castles, slay dragons, and then watch the sunset and the stars over the distant mountain tops to chill out, then this is the place to be.

We arrived very spontaneously in Ikaria without plans where to stay. Within minutes Stylianos answered our request and after a short while we had a new home. The time in Droutsoulas was very special for us. It is a small and very authentic village with people who welcomed us with open hearts and arms. From our perspective, it is very important to enter this special place with respect and mindfulness. The house is kept absolutely original, with taste, having a beautiful view over the mountains of Ikaria. Stylianos is very welcoming and friendly, thanks for the time!

If you love silence, if you love rustic, if you love off the beaten track, this is for you. This is just a lovely space where you can hide for however long you want. It isn't a five star hotel for sure, but the perfect place if you want some peace and quiet. Higly recommended!

Hi! My name is Stylianos Simakis and i was born in Ikaria in 1970. I grew up at the village of Droutsoulas. Later i moved to Kerame. I have studied economics in the University of Macedonia, Salonica. I speak Greek and English. It was two year ago when i started rennovating two of my properties, one at Kerame and the other one at Droutsoulas in order to rent them out to visitors of Ikaria. I hope they find them cozy and comfortable.
