Crete Retreat Lavender
Beach villa with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and shared pool in Chania, Crete
From €140 per week
Two bedroom comfortable and relaxing villa overlooking the shared pool set in beautiful gardens with a large pool. Located on the edge of Tsikalria Village.
Overview
We have three villas set in 5000sq meters of gardens with a large 24/7 165sq meter swimming pool, one you can really swim in. We are located on the edge of the village of Tsikalaria, away from the main roads, and secluded, to create a quiet but not isolated base for your holiday.
Being a reclaimed orange grove, all the water for the garden is supplied by the original well, giving an unusual green micro climate within the warmth of Crete. We have three dogs and cats which are allowed in the grounds but not in the houses
Lavender Villa consists of two bedrooms Kitchen/ dinner, bathroom, and a large covered decking overlooking the pool
Location
We are well placed and within easy reach of Chania with the beautiful Venetian harbour, tavernas, shops, museums and ancient atmosphere.
Our local shops and tavernas provide convenient shopping and dining. Souda, the nearby town and port offers a Carrefour supermarket and the renowned fresh fish tavernas and is just 3 km away.
Our aim is to provide an affordable, quiet, green environment that is private but not totally isolated. We live within the grounds and provide on site management and help. From our own experience we have made a point of providing good sized air conditioned bedrooms, adequate cooking and barbeque equipment, large bath and shower rooms and raised sun terraces.
For those wanting to experience the historical aspect of Crete, the Aptera Roman settlement is only 15 minutes away and we are surrounded by archaeological sites, monasteries and museums.
For the more active holiday, there are daily excursions to walk the world famous Samaria Gorge, horse riding, wind surfing, climbing, walking, go carting, paragliding and diving.
Boat trips leave from Chania harbour and Souda ferry terminal daily. Excursions are also available to Knossos, Elafonisi, and Santorini.
The beaches around the area are plentiful, ranging from quiet and remote, to popular. Most beaches have tavernas on the beach or nearby, and all have easy free parking.
We offer a truly ideal location from which to explore this beautiful island and believe you will find peace and relaxation within your private villa, shady gardens and of course our beautiful swimming pool.

The owner was very friendly and communicative - he was on site to answer all our questions. The property itself was clean and contained all that was necessary for a pleasant and peaceful holiday.

Very nice villa, with large swimming pool. The house we had, the closest to the swimming pool (what isn't a problem in termes of noise/intimacy), is clean and well équiped (except a micro wave everything is provided).
Many beaches around (5 to 15 minutes by car) were you CAN park very easily.
Ian was very kind and helpfull, don't Forget to ask him where the Fish shop is: Nice fresh fish you can have on the barbecue!
You definitely need a car, I would advise not to rent through the typical rental sites but ask Ian for greek adresses, much cheaper ( auto-rental.gr...)
If interested with boating, rental is possible in mathary With notosmare.com, ir's really worth it !!
We ´ll come back !

Very nice and comfortable villa in beautifully planted and well maintained gardens. The best pool of any villa I have stayed in. Ian the owner very helpful and friendly. Our stay was slightly spoilt by the wifi which worked only 10% of the time in the week we were there. This was apparently a regular problem but not one due to any fault of the owners, rather the quality of internet service in Crete. Hopefully this problem will be fixed for 2017.

First Impression of the neighborhood is not great and took us back a bit. However, once we had parked and walked into the garden proper, we were really pleased. We spent two weeks in Lavender villa and loved it. We were aiming for a relaxed family holiday without major distractions (TV, computer games etc) and the villa was perfect for that. Ian was a great host and was always happy to chat or offer advice when asked, although was never intrusive in the slightest. The chickens and dogs were a welcome addition and the cats, whilst a bit of a pain at times, are all over Crete, so are really part of the territory.
We would recommend this property as a destination for families or couples who want to be a little bit away from the action but close enough to get there if and when you want to.

We loved staying here.Ian and Jeannie have created a lovely restful garden, the pool is larger than one would expect and warm, we enjoyed our daily swims. The location is good, with easy access to lots of sites in Crete,so much to see and do.The weather was lovely,Ian and Jeannie were very helpful and we all, especially our son loved the dogs Brian and Daisy, the hens and the cats.Supermarkets and the national road are nearby, but the location at dawn seems very rural if you open the window and listen to the dawn chorus! The villa had plenty of space, and a lovely outside but shaded dining area where we enjoyed our meals and sitting reading

Just returned from our holiday,everything
went perfectly.we were there for a family
wedding.
the villa was perfect and all the animals that
visited daily soon became friends.we miss
the hens and Daisy and Brian the dogs.
the weather was perfect ,maybe too hot but
we expected that.
you really need a car but the buses were
frequent and cheap.
thanks to Ian and Jeanie the owners, they made
our holiday complete.
the pool and gardens must be the best anyywhere!!!

Twenty years ago, we finally released our dream and myself, Ian, Jeannie my wife and our two girls set off from England for our new life on the warm and sunny island of Crete. We had already purchased a plot of land with a house and one acre of orchard, delicious navel oranges. It took over a year to overcome the paperwork and legalities connected with our purchase but then we were able to start our huge project. The gardens and villas slowly took shape, each year bringing exciting changes as the trees and plants matured. The result is now three villas set in beautiful gardens. Having been to Greece on previous occasions we wanted to make the accommodation spacious. A large bathroom was a must and raised sun terraces were top priority. We wanted to create individual privacy without being isolated and a pool that you could really swim in, We are very fortunate that we are only a short distance from Chania, the principal town, and we also determined be affordably priced, a place for people to relax. We aim to create integrity and customer care. We are here, on site, for the duration of your stay to make sure everything runs smoothly for you.
