Overview
Villa Fengaropetra in Anavyssos is the ideal place for rejuvenation, relaxation and fun. Ideal for musicians, writers, or generally for those who are seeking for a calm environment, where they will be able to study in peace, produce intellectual work, or simply relax, away from the noise of the cities. Also perfect for families with young children, since it offers innumerable possibilities for fun, within a safe environment.
Villa Fengaropetra is also ideal as a starting point to explore Athens and Attica, the heart of ancient and contemporary Greece. Apart from antiquities and the Museums the Greek Festival held during the summer months offers a wide choice of artistic events. The property is also very convenient if you want to visit Marathon, Delfi, Mycenae, Nafplion and other places of archaeological interest in the mainland. (See suggestions further down).
The estate expands at 15.000 square meters and it is situated on a hill. It overlooks the countryside and the sea, at a distance of 6km and offers complete silence and isolation. Around the picturesque cottage, long stretches of typical Mediterranean landscape unfold, with olive planted hills, vineyard fields, pine trees, and the blue horizon.
The ample swimming pool (6x12 meters) offers a unique combination of luxury and rural environment. The water comes from our own well, fact that reassures its purity and good quality. At the pool, one can enjoy complete privacy, swim or sunbathe, whilst admiring the impressive view. Taking an open air shower and relaxing under the shaded penthouse, completes the satisfaction of the bather. The pool is the spot usually most loved by children, who thrive in its turquoise waters, playing to their hearts delight.
The cottage measures 100 square meters and accommodates seven people. It offers the facilities of two double bedrooms, a spacious living room with a double sofa bed, audio equipment, wi-fi, TV and DVD player, a dining room with one extra single bed, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen (coffee machine, microwave oven, dish-washer, clothes washing machine, toaster, kettle) and beautiful all round verandas. The house is fully air-conditioned and it has also a fireplace.
Furthermore, beautiful sandy or pebbly beaches are situated along the coastline, and one could alternatively go for swimming in the sea, which is a 10 min. drive away. The main beach of Anavyssos is a center for windsurfing and other sea activities, but if one wants a peaceful swim, going a little further down the coastline, would be advisable. Typical Greek fish-taverns, good quality restaurants and fashionable nightclubs, are within easy reach by car, along the coast. Daily excursions to the Argosaronikos islands (Aigina, Hydra, Poros) are also possible.
Anavyssos is situated, at 50 km from the center of Athens, 25 km fron the Eleftherios Venizelos airport, 50 km from the port of Piraeus and 20 km from cape Sounion. It offers the opportunity to visit Akropolis, the museums in the center of Athens, and return to relax away from the noise and heat of Athens. Cape Sounion and the temple of Poseidon only 20 minutes away on the coast line must be visited by sunset, a unique experience!!!
The village of Anavyssos, a 10 minutes drive from the estate, has a busy market place with supermarkets, grocery shops, pharmacists, doctors and anything you may need for an enjoyable and safe holiday.

A charming property set on a hilltop and surrounded by mature trees and shrubs with a private driveway and extensive grounds, Villa Fengaropetra had everything we needed for a complete recharge. Fully equipped with every appliance, comfortable beds with quality bed linen and more towels than you could use in a month, we lacked nothing except the money to buy the place for ourselves. The pool was enormous, sparkling clean, 27c and acted as a magnet whenever we went out - we just couldn't wait to get back in it. There was a super-abundance of wildlife around the property - tortoises, butterflies, cicadas and what appeared to be vultures riding the thermals above the hilltop. (Not connected to my wife's cooking skills, I assure you...) The peace and quiet, stunning views, clean air and sense of solitude without isolation was amazing. Effi, the owner, was fantastic from the initial enquiry right through to the end of our stay, always helpful and upbeat, only a phone call away if we needed anything (which we didn't) and the source of every conceivable bit of info we could possibly need about local shops and attractions. Would we return? In a heartbeat. Thank you Effi for a legendary holiday!

Wow! That’s the first word that popped into my head when we arrived at Villa Fengaropetra. It sits on top of a hillside (about 30 mins from the airport) and therefore has panoramic views. From the back of the villa you can look out across the valley to the sea or down the gentle slope to the big pool. It’s breathtakingly stunning.
At the front, 5 cats greeted us. I urge everyone who stays here to feed them as it is very rewarding. We bought lots of cat food and the odd chicken treat. They are such great characters; our favourite was the one who was blind in one eye who was really sweet, friendly and gentle. I could spend a long time talking about the lovely cats. But let’s move on to the house. There is air con in throughout which was excellent. I slept much better there than back home! The bedrooms are a good size with plenty of space and comfortable beds. The dining and living areas are large with large patio doors providing that wonderful view out to sea. The kitchen is small but well equipped. There are 2 bathrooms which is very handy and always hot water when required.
The space outside is fantastic for eating or relaxing - two dining tables and even a bed if you fancy a siesta, complete with mosquito net if you want to sleep under the stars. (Great starry nights). It’s so peaceful and secluded but just a 20/25 minute drive down to Anavyssos.
The pool is glorious and large. There’s even a WC and an outdoor shower down there. It was super relaxing in the comfy chairs, sunbathing or swimming down there; and just a short walk back up to the villa via a gentle slope.
When not relaxing, we did a lot of sightseeing, either locally or further afield. This included Sounio, Attica Zoo, Epidaurus, Delphi, Mycenae, Piraeus, Lake Vouliagmeni, the Acropolis and much more. Fantastic scenery and beautiful coastline everywhere.
Our hosts, Effi and Eugenia, were wonderful – very kind and thoughtful. We had such a brilliant time at Villa Fengaropetra and we can’t thank them enough. We would definitely recommend the villa.

We were picked up at the airport by Effi and Stavros. That way we did not have to search for the house in the dark. That made the start so much easier. They got us some water, bread, coffee and yoghurt to get a nice start the first morning. Also we got the chance to meet the owners, which was very enjoyable.
We spent a lovely time at the house. We had a lot of beautiful weather and a real storm (Zorbas). Even during the storm we could enjoy our stay as the house is very comfortable. We made ourselves a fire in the fireplace!
During the nice weather we enjoyed the pool every day! What a nice pool and how nice that it was cleaned after the storm and very well maintained by the pool-man.
We loved the terrace with its great view, during the day but also during the sunset! No house in Greece we have rented in the past compares to this house.

This was a truly amazing place for a holiday. Perched on a hilltop with a long private drive with great views out to the sea and the beautiful valley, we enjoyed a very pleasant week here. We were welcomed by the lovely Effi with delicious Greek cakes! The pool is stunning. It’s huge! And the poolside cabana is very comfortable; great for lazy afternoons reading as the sun sets. The house is very well-appointed with air con in all main rooms. We were able to sleep 5 with no problems. The kitchen has everything you need and there’s good wifi. Every evening was spent watching first the sun and then the moon set behind Mt Olympus (no not that one.) We visited the Temple of Poseidon which was very interesting but a little windy – hang on to your hats. The nearby town Anavyssos had everything we needed (including a great bakery for more cakes!). We loved staying here and will return as soon as we can!
