This villa gives you the best of both worlds. As it nestles high up the mountain side you do need a car and the drive up is very steep, but the views and the peaceful setting are worth it when you get there. However, you are also only a 10 minute ride away from the resort of Plantania, with a lovely beach, shops and tavernas. If you want to enjoy the bustling nightlife and a jug or two of sangria you can get a taxi into Plantania for just 10 euros. The Greek night at the White Lady is an absolute must. Not only do you get to watch traditional Greek dancing but you get to join in! As the villa is located almost in the middle of the north side of the island it is ideally placed as a base for exploring the whole island. The fascinating island of Spinalonga is a 2.25 hour drive to the east, Elafonisi, a paradise beach with a clear lagoon and pink sand is the same distance to the west and the magnificent Samarian Gorge on the south side is only 1.5 hours away. There's much much more to see and do and we left all the leaflets we picked up for future holiday makers to browse through. Our stay was made even more enjoyable by the friendly neighbours. Trevor looks after the villa for the owners and popped round to check all was ok. He answered any questions we had and would have come round if there was anything we needed sorting out (which we didn't). The next door neighbour was also English and she was particularly helpful - she even came round to see if we wanted to order a take away as they were having one! The owners themselves will also answer any questions you have and are very prompt in doing so, whether you are contacting them from the uk or whilst you are in Crete. The only recommendation I would make is that it would be nice to have a 'welcome pack'. We arrived at 1.30am in the morning having not eaten or drunk since 3pm on the plane and we would have appreciated a bottle of water in the fridge or some sachets of coffee and some biscuits etc. to tide us over until we could get to the supermarket the following day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Crete and in villa Alexandra and would recommend the villa to others.

Hi I was originally born in Stone and have family who come from Stone and realised what a great area this was for holiday lets. It has so many beautiful places and nearby counties that are within a 10 min walk along the canal, or a little further by car. The Peak District, Alton Towers, Trentham Gardens, Cannock Chase, the Downs Banks, itself in Stone are just a brief walk along the canal, the list to visit and things to do is endless. The 2 places in Crete, near Rethymnon are also in a great location with lots to do and direct flights to Chania and Heraklion. Both villas are equidistant about 1 hour 15 mins from either airport and very easy to get to. All three properties are in great locations with great facilities, and we have terrific feedback. I want my guests to have a great stay and do my utmost to ensure they have a lovely break with lots of great suggestions of places to visit, which never fail to hit the mark. The property in Stone we have had for 10 years and those in Crete about 15-17 years. Crete is simply stunning and offers guests great antiquities to visit, beautiful beaches and mountain scenery with local people that are such wonderful hosts. Both villas have stunning mountain and sea views and the house in Stone has views over the canal and is a matter of a few steps to the canal.
