Le Mas D'arjac, Aveyron
Farm house with 7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and private pool in Vailhourles, the South of France
From £4,000 per week
Beautifully renovated and idyllic 18th century collection of stone houses in a tranquil, rural setting surrounded by woodland, and with a large pool for your exclusive use.
Overview
The Long House, the Mas and the Petite Maison of the Mas d’Arjac, built in the 18th century, have been completely renovated by local artisans using traditional methods. They now combine charming stone and timbers with modern comforts to provide the perfect holiday home in the heart of the French countryside. Situated at the meeting point of the Aveyron, Lot and Tarn et Garonne departments, Arjac is a perfectly situated base for exploring this most beautiful corner of France. Najac, Villefranche de Rouergue and Saint Antonin Noble Val are all within a short drive. The accommodation to rent (6 July til 31 August 2024) consists of :
• The Long House with two double bedrooms (one en suite) and a further bedroom with three beds, a kitchen/dining room, a living room and a bathroom. There is a walled patio at the front of the Long House with shaded seating for up to 15, and a lawn area to the rear.
• The Mas, the very stylish and comfortable owner's own home with one double bedroom with a kingsize bed or twin beds, and a second bedroom with two double beds, a living room, a kitchen/dining room and a bathroom.
• The Petite Maison, which consists of a double bedroom on the mezzanine level and a further single room on the ground floor would suit younger guests. Please note that there is no door between the ground and first floors and that guests in the Petite Maison use the bathroom facilities in either the Mas or the Long House.
Guests are invited to make the most of the meadows and woodland which form the Arjac estate. Guests of the Long House, the Mas and the Petite Maison have exclusive use of the 16 x 4m pool and its surrounding terrace.
The Mas d'Arjac is ideal for families and friends travelling together who require a little more space, and the accommodation is only available as one single booking. However, outside the high season months of July and August, the Mas is unavailable and the Long House (sleeps 7) is the main rental unit and can be combined with the Petite Maison (sleeps 4) for additional accommodation, on one single booking under the separate Clickstay reference .

Hello, I am Simon Clark, a retired schoolteacher and lover of France and Spain, their languages and cultures. My partner and I bought the Mas d'Arjac 16 years ago with a view to creating an arts and cultural centre with accommodation and a business to keep me out of mischief once retired. As well as our holiday rentals, I also run a cultural association which promotes concerts, mainly of classical music, by some of the brightest musical stars of the future. We fell in love with the peaceful woodland setting of the Mas d'Arjac and the beauty of its stone buildings which we have restored to practical use over the intervening years. We particularly love exploring the many stunning villages within easy reach of the house as well as the vibrant market days in our nearest towns. Our small corner of France, in the Aveyron but very close to the borders with Tarn et Garonne and the Lot, is the perfect springboard to explore this fascinating and extremely picturesque part of SW France.
