Overview
Le Bois is a 250 year old farmhouse set in a small hamlet close to the village of Meigne le Vicomte which has recently been totally refurbished to an exceptionally high standard by the owners. A 9 x 4 metre heated swimming pool has been added, as well as free wireless internet and free telephone calls internationally. The property comprises of 3500 square feet of accommodation as follows.
The kitchen has a very large authentic farmhouse kitchen fully equipped with all modern conveniences being dominated by a full height tuffeau stone fireplace with superb log burning stove and a matching shaker style kitchen table and 6 chairs. Accessed via the kitchen is a large utility room providing access to the rear garden complete with a large sink, washing machine/tumble drier and separate WC off this room. There is a substantial lounge which is well equipped with two large leather settees and separate chair. There is a large screen TV with Sky TV and a DVD player, Mini HiFi and iPod docking system. Like the kitchen the room has a feature fireplace and large wood burning stove with three double patio doors looking out over the rear gardens.
Upstairs the property benefits from three large bedrooms (master bedroom ensuite) being the master bedroom with a Kingsize bed as well a double and a twin bedroom. Each room benefits from fantastic views over the surrounding countryside. There is a large main bathroom which comprises of a large shower cubicle and separate bath. To complete the upstairs accommodation there is a mezzanine floor which has a large bed settee which is large enough for two adults to sleep comfortably.
Outside the property is set in 2 acres of land, which is mainly laid to course lawn, and for your enjoyment a large 6 seat table set with an oversize parasol is situated close to the kitchen door together with a charcoal BBQ set.
What to do in the Loire Valley
The Loire Valley is an area renowned for its natural beauty, pretty villages and magnificent Chateaux. It also goes without saying that in France food and wine are equally as important to the locals as their heritage.
Le Bois is located close to the main routes travelling in all directions and most locations can be reached within a 15 to 30 minute car journey. The towns of Tours, Angers, Saumur, Le Mans and Le Lude are all within easy drive and provide quality shopping, historic interest, pavement cafes and a variety of quality restaurants. Walking, cycling and water sports are all available close to the property and on site we provide two cycles for use by our guests. The area’s most famous historic sites are the various Chateaux which line the banks of the Loire
River. Most notable of these are Saumur, Chenonceaux, Azay-le-Rideau and Ambois. For children and adults alike there are three local zoos, each with its own unique way of presenting the animals!
For the golfer the area has many local golf courses within an hours drive, with nearest at Bauge being a renowned competition course. Discount tickets are available both locally and via the internet.

This is a truly lovely house with secluded private pool. It has been sensitively modernised to a high standard whilst maintaining its rustic feel.
The region is lovely although very remote. Expect to drive for at least 45 minutes to any chateaux or decent sized towns/cities.
However, with the right weather (which we sadly did not get), it would be easy to spend whole days relaxing in the house, pool and garden.
On a small note, the kitchen equipment (especially knives) need a bit of updating. The bread knife was a real struggle!
All in all, though, lovely property that I will seriously considering returning to. Would be perfect with a second family of friends in the adjoining house.

We had a wonderful week at Le Bois. The accommodation was spacious and superbly equipped. The owners were staying in the other property and so helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area and things to do with two teenagers. Ideal if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, quiet and tranquil. Well situated if you want to explore the Loire Valley.

Lovely gite very spacious and well equipped set in large garden grounds shared with one other giite but each has its own privacy, Ideal for quiet holiday as set in rural surroundings, we were all cycling so the country lanes with fields of sun flowers suited us, there are some pretty villages within a short drive and the larger towns of Saumur and Chinon are worth a visit. Noyant is the closest village for shopping there is a lovely pattisiere and a friendly cafe/bar. We would definitely return to le Bois.

Our second stay at Le Bois and already talking about a third. Our group consists of mum and dad and two daughters aged 12 and 10, and our pet dog Tilly. Its a beautiful house that suited us all, it has a beautiful garden with beautiful views. The house has everything you need to make your holiday relaxing, the second you arrive you feel just happy to be there and calm. We were lucky with the weather and so were able to use the pool almost everyday, the pool is very well maintained and clean. Everyone you meet connected with the house is beyond helpful, we totally recommend Janices cooked meals too! We had the pleasure of the owners company next door for the week and are desperately trying to persuade them to let us move there ha ha -)

I was very sad to leave Le Bois, a renovated farmhouse in the Loire valley. It was palatial so we could all spread out with luxurious couches, plenty of space in the bedrooms, an excellent kitchen (induction cooktop!) and separate laundry. Everything we could possibly need was here and it was renovated to the highest standard. Additionally the house was set in a generous block so you had complete privacy. Slept like a baby each night. The only downside was it was hard to find in the GPS (difficult to find on a map as the roads are unnamed) but the property managers met us in "town" and guided us to it. A more detailed map with landmarks and an exact lat/long would be helpful. Also it seemed like all the chateaux were a long way away, so lots of driving involved. Be sure to stock up on groceries before you arrive as the local town is pretty dead else you will end up having a "Withnail and I" experience. But Le Bois will remain in my memory forever as one of our most comfortable and enjoyable holiday stays.
