Overview

Between the vast vineyards of the wines of Lamothe-Montravel lie our comfortable gites/holiday rentals in the typical French "en pierre" style. Besides that the area is known for its famous Bergerac wines, the famous wine regions of St. Emilion and Pomerol are only a stone's throw away. Also the beautiful city of Bordeaux is only one hour away by car.

The guests of the studio have free access to the spacious swimming pool and the park-like garden. They can also use the outdoor kitchen with barbecue. There is free wifi.

The studio is suitable for 2 persons and has the following characteristics:

Living/bedroom with sitting area, dining table and double bed (150 x 200)
Bathroom with shower and toilet
Fitted kitchenette with hob and oven
Access to large communal garden
Access to communal pool (12 x 6)

Our gites and studio are situated in the middle of the vineyards of the famous Bergerac wines, in the department Dordogne. This department is part of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. This region, in the southwest of France, is known for its rich cultural and natural heritage, with its cities, its buildings, its castles and spectacular landscapes. These will be a constant source of inspiration during your stay in the region. This region full of character has made its name thanks to its vineyards and its gastronomy. Due to its particular geographical location, it enjoys an oceanic climate. The climate is mild with plenty of sunshine.

The Dordogne:
With its impressive fortified villages, ancient castles, charming villages and prehistoric caves, the Dordogne has managed to preserve its heritage! Here, you are also in a region where gastronomy and the art of living are central and where wine, foie gras and local products have a special place!

Bordeaux:
A visit to the city of Bordeaux is, of course, also very much worthwhile. In less than an hour, you are in the middle of this beautiful city. Bordeaux is, among other things, known for its wine museum (Cité du Vin), and its beautifully renovated centre with nice shops and restaurants. Bordeaux is easy to reach by car as well as by train.

Gastronomy:
The flavours of our region will delight the taste buds of young and old! Enjoy its quality products; truffles, oysters, mussels, mushrooms, prunes... or foie gras, the most famous local speciality of the region.
Try a delicious cassoulet, duck confit, almond biscuits and/or the cannelés de Bordeaux. You will remember these dishes with their unique flavours for a long time.

Oenology:
Come and discover the secrets of the vineyard and wine during tasting visits to the numerous wine estates. The famous wine chateaux of St. Emilion and Pomerol are also just a stone's throw away.

Golf
Within short distance of the Gites le Mathelin are 3 golf courses:
Château de Vigiers, Golf & Country-club; 3 courses of 9 holes each;
Golf club de Saint Meard de Gurçon; 1 course of 9 holes
Grand Saint Emilion Golf club; 1 18-hole course

Canoeing
At 5 minutes from the gites you can go canoeing on the river Dordogne. A very fun and sporty way to discover our beautiful region from the water.

Water fun
In addition to the water fun in the private pool, there are two beautiful recreational lakes near the Gites with various water sports activities: Lac de Gurson and Lac de la Cadie.

Private Owner From Lamothe-montravel, France Member since Nov 2022

We are Bas and Marieke van Osta. In 2004 we moved with our then still young family from the Netherlands to France. In the meantime our children have left the nest and we decided to sell the campsite after 17 years of being the campsite owner. This transfer took place in September 2021, so that we could ‘push’ ourselves on our next adventure. After we settled in our new house in Lamothe-Montravel in the Dordogne we had the opportunity to buy the adjacent gites from our new neighbors. We obviously didn’t want to let this opportunity pass. We are really looking forward to this new challenge and look forward to welcoming you in this beautiful and unique place in France. You can book our Gîtes all year long!
