Place description
Villa Barbara is situated at the north edge of Dahab- el Assalah. Dahab is a small town that you can get around on foot or with cheap, easily accessible taxis. For the price of 1-5 euro, depending on the distance, you can get to every corner of Dahab. When planning further trips, you can use local travel agencies or contact the guide who will organize private tours. A list of contacts for the guide and minivan driver is available in each room, along with other information facilitating the holidays.
There is no parking on the property, a car can be park in front of the house. For those arriving to Sharm el Sheikh or Eilat, we can arrange transportation from the airport to the house. That system has been operating satisfactory for about 10 yearsIt is a quiet residential area with many homes owned by foreigners. Walk through the garden takes you to the beach where The Red Sea coral-reef starts directly from there. After a ten minute walk along the beach you will get to the promenade with restaurants, shops, sun loungers and diving centers. A 3 minutes walk from the villa will takes you to closest supermarket where all basic products are available for a reasonable price, but my personal recommendation is the local market square (5-7 minutes away) for a range of fresh and tasty vegetables, fruits, fish and sea food. There you will also find a pharmacy, butchers, household goods, small local traders and even a wine shop. This place is very lively, especially in the evening, when local people, Bedouins and foreigners are shopping, eating and enjoying shisha in local faces cafeterias. It is a perfect place to learn the local culture and my favourite place for shopping and meetings while having tasty fish or prawns.
The whole range of Egyptian, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Thai and other cuisines are available in restaurants 7-20 minutes walk from the villa. You can also use taxis, which are very cheap and available 24/7.
The villa is located 50 min drive from Sharm -el - Sheikh Airport and 90 minutes drive from Taba.
Dahab and surroundings
After long years of searching for a lovely, sunny place to live during European Cold Seasons, I found a perfect place which I can call my second home. And that is because of whole year of guaranteed sunshine, beautiful nature, stunning landscapes and its specific mood with friendly people. Dahab has bewitched me with its bohemian lifestyle, colourful sea and majestic Sinai Mountains. Together with the possibility of a wide range of sea sports such as snorkelling, diving, windsurfing, sailing etc, are making this area a perfect spot for all year holidays. Dahab is a cult place for divers, windsurfers and everyone who loves sea sports, as well as for fans of sun, desert safaris, mountain, canyon climbing, cycling, horse-riding and quad biking.
Sight seeing tours to famous historical spots such as Petra, Israel, Moses Mountain, St. Catherine Monastery and even Giza-Cairo or Luxor, can also be arranged from Dahab. The owner and manager will assist you to find the best option fitting your needs. We cooperate with best dessert guides, local travel agents and dive centers.

Villa Barbara is a great place to stay while in Dahab for a group of friends hiring all the rooms at once. Very nicely decorated, comfortable, with a big yard to relax and feel the local atmosphere. The villa is equipped with everything you need to cook your own meal and it has a washing machine.
Our host Barbara was of great help in providing information on the local ways to live and enjoy Dahab. She advised us on restaurants, shops and things we should pay attention to during our visit. Barbara put us in contact with a tour agency to organize trips in and outside of Dahab, ensured we have our own taxi driver and even put a local mobile phone at our disposal.
The villa is located in a very quiet area right on the beach, where you can swim during high tide. The marketplace is about 10 mins away on foot. Eel Garden is about 15 mins away and that is where you can find the nearest restaurants and bars. Another 5-10 mins walk will lead you to Lighthouse area, the busiest tourist spot with diving centers, souvenir shops and restaurants. The famous Blue Hole diving/snorkeling spot is only 8 km away and you can go by taxi for a reasonable price.
Dahab is a wonderful place to feel local and tourist at the same time – it has the authentic Egyptian atmosphere which we could not completely experience in Sharm-El-Sheikh.
Thank you Barbara for creating this beautiful place and for your hospitality – and also thanks for leaving the palm trees growing directly inside the living room!

Lovely place to stay and only 10 seconds walk from the sea. Large, secure, pretty garden which was great for our small kids. Well equipped and not too far from good restaurants, bars and shops. The owner was extremely helpful - we had no issues at all. We very much recommend Villa Barbara for anyone coming to Dahab.

Barbara’s Villa Dahab....
This is quite simply outdoor living at its very best. The villa itself was built around three enormous palm trees which rise like GIANT bean stalks into the sky above. This then is your living room, open to the sky above. Only the vastness of the palm leaves act as a canopy above and reflect both light and natural moon light back through into the villa the ambiance is therefore stunning both during the day as well as at night.
The three main bedrooms hug this central indoor courtyard by flanking its sides, whilst the vast wooden staircase rises from the rear to the wide open terrace above. We spent many an hour up here either sunning ourselves during the day or playing backgammon at night. As if this was not enough to make you realise you are somewhere special, like no-where else there is a wooden foot bridge that spans the whole canopy resting upon the bedroom walls below. WOW what a touch.... this footbridge then leads you to an independent bedroom tucked away in the corner like a tree house.
As a family of three, we took our 13 year old daughter with us, who at first glance was horrified to discover we had rented a villa with no roof but is was not just the building that melted her heart – it was the large open garden with no less than a further eleven fully mature palm trees huddled together in the middle supporting no less than three hammocks swinging gently in the breeze. This place is quite simply amazing it oozes peace and tranquillity. Our host Barbara, stood quietly in the shadows, never once intruding on our privacy, yet ready to handle any task we ask of her. We found the locals to be the friendliest Egyptians we have ever met again never obtrusive or demanding.
This villa is situated just twelve paces from the beach, whose tranquil warm waters of shimmering blues and greens ran at least one hundred meters at waist level before it hit the coral reef and the deep blue sea, absolutely perfect for both snorkelling and of cause Diving. Then each night we walked along the beach to the hub of Dahab and the many restaurants that line its coast. Here we ate like lords for the whole two weeks and not once did we experience Pharaohs Revenge.....
All-in-all we had a fantastic time and would not hesitate to recommend Barbara’s Villa to friends and family alike we are already planning our next trip over....

Barbara is an excellent host, there when you need her, but never intrusive. The villa is unusual and delightful, having a central internal garden with palm trees, open to the skies at its heart. All the fittings and equipment work, as does the Wi-Fi connection and a trusty Dutch bicycle, which are both included. The surroundings and general neighbourhood are quiet and away from the hustle of Dehab central. Out along the beach there are many safe places to swim and snorkel, best when he tide is up, but great for paddling even at low tide (swim-shoes advised). The reef is less than 100m off shore. In the villas garden, theres a fresh water shower to wash off any salt after swimming as well as plenty of places to sit or stretch out in the dappled shade of more palm trees. The whole place oozes restful tranquility but is also ideally placed as a staging post for excursions near and far. We love it and will be back!

I warmly recommend Villa Barbara as a quiet, peaceful and lovely place to stay in Dahab. We stayed there as a family of five in October 2012, and really enjoyed the garden, the open air living room, the top terrace, the closeness to the sea who is at the doorstep, and the convenience to access all amenities and diving places at a short taxi ride.
Barbara the owner is kind and helpful and goes out of her way to make your stay comfortable, including helping with booking airport transfers and shopping for simple groceries to find on arrival.
We are looking forward to return in the future!
