Tour Santo Domingo
Declared Patrimony of Unesco, the capital, Santo Domingo presents itself as a city with profound contrasts: Immense cultural wealth cohabit with situations of extreme poverty. Santo Domingo is the oldest European colony in the Americas and was the first Spanish colony; It was here that the first university was established, the first paved road and the first church and the oldest monastery of the New World was built. It was the meeting point between Europe and the new America. . During the tour you can visit all the main sites of historical and cultural interest, but also feel the rhythms and lifestyles of the local population. Go to the Colonial Zone, where you will stroll around historic places such as Christopher Columbus or Pirate Francis Drake. You can live and breathe the real atmosphere of Santo Domingo: It is in this area that there are most Museums, churches and places of historical interest like the Catedral Primada de America, the first church built in the New World , The Fortaleza Ozama, the house of Bastidas, the Panteon Nacional, the museum of the royal house, the Alcazar de Colon (residence of Christopher Columbus). The highlights of your excursion must be the typical local market, full of colorful shops and a stop in Los Tres Ojos, three beautiful underground freshwater lakes where you will see aboard a small raft to admire the interior of the caves and the incredible color of the water. The lunch break must be in a small typical Dominican place where you will be able to meet the local people
