ABOUT THE AREA AND CYPRUS:
The Famagusta region
The charms of Cyprus are many and varied. For a start the weather is sunny and dry for most of the year, and the Mediterranean Sea circling this magical Island is blue, clear and very enticing. There are modern luxury hotels in the coastal resort towns, historic cities to explore, tavernas and nightlife for all. Cyprus has remote picturesque mountain villages and monasteries, beautiful churches, Crusader castles and fascinating museums.
The local people are extremely welcoming to tourists, happy to share with them their love of life and gentle Cypriot camaraderie. In Cyprus it is possible to mingle with crowds, or seek isolation off the beaten track as the mood takes, even in peak holiday season. For this reason the island is also a favoured destination for both Weddings and honeymooners, a reputation which is no doubt enhanced by the fact that, according to legend, Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, rose from the sea.
Cyprus has a typical Mediterranean climate, warm and dry with little rainfall, which makes Cyprus very popular as tourist destination., and definitely an island for all the seasons, from very mild winters to long hot summers. The official language is Greek however, English is widely spoken and understood throughout the island.
Protaras Area - The resort of Protaras is about 45 minutes east of Larnaca airport and has grown over the last 20 years, from a simple fishing village into a superb resort for holidaymakers. It is one of the most picturesque parts of the island of Cyprus.
With its blissful golden sandy beaches lapped by the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean it is little wonder that Protaras is getting bigger all the time – more and more visitors are coming here every year. The most famous of all the beaches in Protaras are both Fig Tree Bay and next door Flamingo Bay. The resort itself spreads over 10 miles of coastline, most of it fringed by stunning bays and little idyllic coves.
Protaras is a modern, purpose-built resort, popular with water sports fans of all kinds, Water sports and scuba-diving being available all along the sands, although generally, the pace of life in Protaras is one of unbroken relaxation and tranquillity. Restaurants offer international and local food and the few discos are also popular with locals. There are plenty of bars, tavernas and choices of eateries around the area, with a vast choice of international cuisine. Why not explore the area around Protaras and nearby Paralimini, browse around the wonderful shops, visit a medieval monastery, churches in the surrounding villages, stop for a drink or meal at a local taverna before returning to your Villa in Protaras, for your choice of evening entertainment or that simple al fresco dining at your own ‘home in the sun’. A short drive takes you into the lovely cosmopolitan town of Paralimni with its wonderful shops, taverns, churches and pretty village square.

Bungee Jumping – for the adventurous tourists in Cyprus, bungee jumping is available in Ayia Napa.
Golfing - Cyprus is fast becoming a favourite with many golfing travellers due to an improvement in facilities and, of course, its superb all-year round climate. There are several golf schools, golf development classes and academies, in many locations in Cyprus to help you improve your game.
Go-karting - There are many go- karting centres in Cyprus. Most are open seven days a week, an excellent one being located at Ayia Napa, next door to the Waterpark.
Diving - Warm seas, clear water and year-round sunshine ensure that diving in Cyprus remains a popular pastime. The varied nature of the dive sites as well as the lack of tides and currents means that both beginners and more experienced divers can enjoy the experience. Theres plenty of underwater life and a huge variety of fish.
Skiing and Snowboarding: Troodos Mountains – Experience Cyprus in the winter months, January to March. There is fantastic skiing and snowboarding on Mount Olympus, in the beautiful Troodos Mountains.

Stayed as a family of 7, the villa provided everything that we needed, the pool was the best ever.
Excellent location to get to bars and restaurants within walking distance, also only a five minute taxi ride to the main strip in Protaras where there is plenty of entertainment, you could also walk along the board walk into town.
We were looked after by Teri who helped us out with things like car hire and collection from the airport and return cannot thank her enough for all her help.Teri also replied promptly to any queries that we had and nothing was too much trouble.
Qe give this a five star family stay *****
Thank you from the Hooper / Turner Families.

Good points:
Location; end of quiet cul-de-sac & walking distance to restaurants, seaside promenade etc.
Clean pool with outdoor shower.
Lots of clothes storage space.
2 rooms had a safe.
Electricity trips often; the once we couldn’t reset it, Mary the local contact, sorted it the following day.
The other reviews of the villa made no reference to what could make it better, so these are our suggestions:
> Online info could be improved - beach towels? safes? etc. Query raised with owner before departure from UK responded to after our arrival in Cyprus.
> However, contact in Cyprus (Mary) very helpful re. a/c difficulty on arrival. This situation could have been avoided with some info in the villa about amenities, a/c, TV, rubbish, recycling, locality restaurants, places of interest etc.
> Attention to detail: cleaning equipment & messy tarpaulin discarded outside villa to greet us on arrival.
> More seating/lounging - just enough for 6 (but not advertised 9).
> More crockery & water/juice tumblers (we bought 6).
> Bigger microwave.
> Kitchen scales.
> More tea towels.
> Dishwasher.
> Hand towels for everyone & separate beach towels.
> DVD that works (or instructions?).
> Improved cleaning inside & out. Of particular note - bedrooms, large rug in master bedroom was filthy & had bits of glass in it; blood on a bedspread, cobwebs etc in outside seating area & loungers etc.
> As the owner lives locally a courtesy visit would be nice & signal the intention to make guests welcome - just a thought.
Summary. Great location but a bit tired.
At the end of quiet cul-de-sac of 9 villas (all look in better nic than #5, Villa Elena).
Could easily be improved with attention to detail, better cleaning, some information for visitors & enough equipment for advertised number of guests. Bringing the villa up to the standard of its neighbours will require more effort.
Would still recommend to others if our suggestions are acknowledged

Well equipped villa located at the end of a small cul -de -sac, with no passing traffic. The pool and outside area is lovely with ample sunbeds and is quite secluded. The Villa is located between Protaras and Pernera and is set back about 200m from the sea. It is a pleasant 10min walk along the coastal path to central Protaras, and you are 5min away from shops and bars in Pernera. My whole family had a fabulous stay here and I would recommend Mojito Restaurant for excellent food.
Happy Holidays.....Villa Elena was everything we were expecting and more. The villa has everything you need with the added bonus of a brilliant location. You don't need a car to get around as there are plenty of activities and places to eat within walking distance. We were a family of 8 (Grandparents ,Parents and Teenagers)quite a range of ages ,but all found plenty to enjoy. The large lidl supermarket is only a 5 mins taxi ride away conveinient if you plan to cook or bbq. Agent arranged transfers to and from the airport and also arranged a welcome pack for our arrival, via emailed shopping list, brilliant .Would thoroughly recommend this villa
5 star villa. This villa is absolutely amazing. The location is fab, it was just 5 minutes drive or 15 minute walk along the coast to Protaras and Fig Tree Bay. Pernera in itself is lovely, with the Blue Spice restaurant just round the corner. The pool area was so lovely to relax by and the service from the agent was excellent. Definitely recommend and we would absolutely stay again.
