WHERE TO GO?
This Villa is situated in Banja bay and is the perfect base from which to explore the Elafiti islands, Ston (15 km distance), the Arboretum Trsteno (20 km distance) and Dubrovnik city (36 km distance).
The Elaphiti Islands or the Elaphites is a small archipelago consisting of several islands stretching northwest of Dubrovnik, in the Adriatic sea. The Elaphites have a total land area of around 30 square kilometres (12 square miles) and a population of 850 inhabitants. The islands are covered with characteristic Mediterranean evergreen vegetation and attract large numbers of tourists during the summer tourist season due to their beaches and pristine scenery.
Ston was a major fort of the Ragusan Republic whose defensive walls were regarded as a notable feat of medieval architecture. The town's inner wall measures 890 metres in length, while the Great Wall outside the town has a circumference of 5 km. The walls extend to Mali Ston ("Little Ston"), a smaller town on the northern side of the Pelješac isthmus and the end of the Bay of Mali Ston, notable for its mariculture.
Ston is also known for its saltworks which were run by the Republic of Ragusa and the Ottoman Empire.Dubrovnik, the 'Pearl of the Adriatic', on the Dalmatian coast, was an important Mediterranean sea power from the 13th century onwards. Although severely damaged by an earthquake in 1667, Dubrovnik managed to preserve its beautiful Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches, monasteries, palaces and fountains.
Dubrovnik was founded in the first half of the 7th century by a group of refugees from Epidaurum, who established their settlement at the island and named it Laus. The Latin name Ragusa (Rausa), in use until the 15th century, originated from the rock (Lat. lausa = rock)
The Arboretum Trsteno was erected by the local noble family Gozze in the late 15th century, who requested ship captains to bring back seeds and plants from their travels. The exact start date for the arboretum is unknown, but it was already in existence by 1492, when a 15 m span aqueduct to irrigate the arboretum was constructed; this aqueduct is still in use. Trsteno is also well known for its two giant sycamores. One is tall 41 and second 33.3 meters. The age of these trees is estimated at about 500 years. At the beginning of the 15th century, Captain James Florio Anthony (Florio Jakoba Antunova), known as Indian, was impressed by the beauty of large and old trees, on the Bosporus and he brought five seedlings in Trsteno, which were planted by the source. Two trees have survived to this day and has developed into a huge sycamores, among the greatest in Europe.

This is a lovely villa, in a fantastic location. It is literally a few steps from the sea; it was wonderful to wake to a view of the sea every morning, to have breakfast on the terrace and then to go for a swim! The villa is modern and spacious, with a delightful terrace. We cooked a few meals in the small, but well-equipped kitchen, but mostly ate in the two restaurants in Slano, which were both great, and not expensive. The area around the villa is really calm and relaxing. Slano, with its restaurants and two well-stocked supermarkets, is a few minutes drive away (on a very narrow road!), or a pleasant 10 minute stroll. Dubrovnik is a very easy drive away (less than 45 minutes) - and the multi-storey car park on the edge of the old city is straightforward to find - you hardly need to drive into Dubrovnik itself. Villa Mandy was exactly what we were looking for; somewhere by the sea, in a quiet location, but relatively near to Dubrovnik. Inga was extremely kind, friendly and helpful. I would thoroughly recommend the villa both for families and groups of friends, and hope we will be able to return one day!

Part of our vacation ( 7days) was spent at Villa Mandy which was perfect for my family. We have a family of 6 adults and the place listed for bed space, not like many places that list sofas etc for sleeping. There were bathrooms with showers/toilets available for each room as well as another bathroom off the main living area. The villa was very clean, well maintained and nicely decorated. The kitchen was very small but had everything needed for cooking. Only thing we couldn't find was dish towels and pot holders but otherwise adequate as we didn't cook as we wanted to eat meals out- taking in local cuisine. We ate a few times at Maestral's in Slano and loved the food. We walked to the little town for shopping & the restaurants which was estimated to be a little over a mile from the villa as my husband didn't like driving on the curvy narrow roads in the big vehicle we rented. This isn't a negative though as the views from any location along the road were beautiful and walking was enjoyable. Our main objective was to have a place close to the sea, a relaxing environment and still have access to touring/excursions. Dubrovnik was about 45 minutes away-views from the wall were beautiful. We also visited Ston, Mali Ston, Orebic to take the ferry to Korcula and visited wine shops on Peljesac Pennisula. We had talked about visiting a few locations in Bosnia but decided to have a few casual days staying at the villa and renting a boat and jet skis from a local supplier. One thing we would have liked to rent which was not available or we did not find was scooters. We would definitely rent this villa again as well as recommend to friends/family. I loved the view from the patio and roof top terrace! I fell in love with Croatia and would come back in a heartbeat!!!! Helpful votes:3/3.
Lovely Villa Mandy and peaceful Slano! This was our second holiday in Croatia and we were not disappointed. Darko was very good to deal with, informative and helpful. The villa was perfect, better even than we had expected, spotlessly clean, contemporary and comfortable.Ideal for our family which included a young baby. The view from the terrace was really beautiful and the beach right on the doorstep. Slano is a quiet little town, but with all the amenities you will need, atm, supermarkets etc. It was easy to drive to Dubrovnik, which is very busy and interesting, we parked right by the old town and found it fascinating. There are a number of restaurants in Slano and our favourite called Mirakul was in the next little village of Osmine, we had a delicious lamb dish which had been slow cooked for 4 hours and had to be ordered 24 hours beforehand. We would love to visit again and would definitely choose Villa Mandy. Helpful votes:6/6.
Fantastic holiday! Lovely Villa Mandy and beautiful surroundings! Slano is a wonderful place to holiday. The Villa was just perfect. Had all the amenities and more. We really loved the house and location. Accommodation was excellent and spotless, ideal for our large family needs. Far superior to others we stayed in Croatia. We had a great holiday in your lovely Villa. Everything we needed was supplied. The photos don't do it justice. It's a great location, quiet, yet a 5 minute walk to the main beach. Area exceeded our expectations. Watching the sunset over the bay from the terrace, with the smells of early evening cooking wafting in the air was idyllic. You can see the local beach from the terrace, which is a minute stroll down from the Villa. The pleasant stroll along the water's edge to the village added to a memorable holiday. Slano is a beautiful village with good selection of restaurants and seemed to be very Croatian. We would like to book again in the future. Croatia is a beautiful country and we will certainly be returning in the near future. Outstanding Villa in outstanding location! Villa Mandy exceeded our expectations. The beautifully appointed, luxury villa was generously proportioned, very well equipped (from dishwasher to DVD player) and tastefully decorated. A cleaner visited daily to help maintain the already spotless accommodation. The choice of two private terraces (one offering some shade), both looking directly out across the adjacent water, added a further element of luxury to our experience. The owner was friendly, attentive and extremely helpful throughout - more than happy, for example, to offer advice on local restaurants and sites of cultural / historical interest. If it's buzzing nightlife you're after, this area is probably not for you. However, if it's quiet relaxation in clean, beautiful and safe surroundings, Villa Mandy in Slano would be very hard to beat. I cannot recommend it highly enough, and will be visiting again in the future.
